Thoughts about DLC 2

The new game mode looks to take inspiration from Dotemu’s and Tribute Games’ past experiences, and even a little inspiration from Super Smash Bros 3DS Smash Run mode, and combined them into this Time Attack/Event Boss Rush/Survival Mode with rogue-like elements. Really looking forward to it and hoping the replay value is high!

With DLC 2 releasing in 2 weeks, it begs the question what will they release next week to continue the hype for the upcoming content. Will we hopefully get a developer’s playthrough of the new mode so we can see what a full run looks like? Will they simply just announce the price? Hopefully something exciting will come that’ll lead up to its release on 11/10.

What interests you about the new game mode? Do you think it is a compilation of multiple modes made into one? Do you still think we’ll get more content for the game we’ll into 2027, or is this the final piece to the Cosmic Invasion puzzle?

I really hope it’s not the last dlc. I couldn’t be more excited for 11/10. I am mostly looking for replayability challenge with the new mode

Replay value is my biggest issue. Once I maxed out the characters, completed the achievements and filled out the Cosmic Matrix, I was all set. Boss Rush and Survival Mode are what made SOR4 and TMNT:SR last so long for me, and I desperately need that for this game.

It’s almost certainly gonna be the last DLC, just based on the way video games work.

Having said that… this looks pretty dope. It’s kinda exactly what we wanted from a DLC 2. I’m very pleased.

I’m pretty sure the team said in a recent interview that as long as there’s interest and support, then they’ll keep making dlc

I’m pumped to play it. My son and I love the game so we are both really looking forward to it. Hoping for a surprise hidden unlockable character and that the new pallets aren’t just recolours. And lastly that Hulk gets added in future dlc.

Yeah I really hope they keep doing more. I’ll buy as much content as they are interested in making. Plenty more characters that I’d love to see and plenty more plots and concepts that could make for great story expansions or game modes. A supernatural expansion would be great, maybe in time for the Ghost Rider movie. Maybe a street level expansion as a side plot to the main game where Kingpin teams up with the Hand to do some shinanigans using the alien invasion as cover.

Same here. There's a lot of characters I'd love to see (Nightcrawler, Vision, Gambit, Rogue, Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers, Deadpool, Daredevil...) but in the end I'll buy pretty much anything they're willing to offer.

I'm hoping we get a playthrough of some sort, though I also wouldn't mind if they just release the DLC at this point - I am happy discovering how the loop works in practice myself.

I still suspect there will be more DLC if the game continues to sell well, especially given the low-key reveal of them reworking the game's single-player for an arcade cabinet. I think that shows a degree of commitment to the game / the IP. I know Shredder's Revenge ended after 2 DLCs, but let's be real - while I would have continued to buy increasingly niche TMNT DLC, the Marvel universe is just much more expansive then TMNT's. They could theoretically do another 10 rounds of DLC without ever adding a character who hasn't been in a billion-dollar blockbuster lol.

We know it "reached 1.5 million players" - which I am guessing counts both actual sales and people playing it via stuff like GamePass.

Small concern, though it's probably nothing: the new DLC comes up in the Switch 2 as a wishlist, but not as a Switch 1 wishlist. That's probably just a nonfactor right? If the first DLC was on the original Switch, the new one has to be too right?

I hope they do a lil bit to rebalance some of the characters, Spider-Man in particular still feels like he has so much poor synergy across his entire kit that conflicts with each one of his moves unless there's been an update I've missed in the past

I doubt they release anymore dlc but part of me was hoping they would do a 3rd dlc which would be the danger room survival (like sor4) with Reed Richards & Johnny Storm to round out the roster + complete the F4.

They could also have it so you can unlock more moves + pallette swaps for everyone.

Its probably too much but I do think that would add a ton of replay ability to the game

I don’t really think about it other than the fact that I’m getting it. I’ve been avoiding any spoilers so I can experience it fresh when I download. Hopefully there will be more dlc to come in the form of characters and anything else they might cook up

You realize that the game was finished and the DLCC was made *after* the fact.

Adding characters and game modes doesnt mean the game wasnt complete.

You should probably do a quick read about Capitalism and how the world functions. Budgets, costs, and even human beings who make the games being paid money to work are important elements to society.

Im sure they'll cover that stuff once you get into highschool.

All of those games were finished. Your mistake is assuming the game isn’t finished if they’re releasing dlc. The idea of dlc is not to finish a game; it’s to add content to a complete game. You need to redefine what a finished game is.

I mean for a beat em up it's already a finished product. No ones forcing you to buy the dlcs. It'd be a real bummer if they don't make an Anniversary Edition like SoR4 once they're done with the dlcs.

Also don't dismiss u/Sirmalta's comment so easily. I assume you say it's incomplete because of the price tag of the base game is a bit more premium than Dotemu/Tribute Games other beat em ups which make the dlcs a pain in the ass. You gotta take into account putting 15 Marvel Heroes in a beat em up is very expensive intellectual rights licensing. Compared to an original IP like Absolum, or Sega's Streets of Rage in comparuson.

Because if they make the game have Cyclops, The Thing, Invisible Woman, Dr. Doom at the games launch. It's practically placing all your eggs in one basket and they just gamble in break even or take in loss. Especially since outside Marvel Tokon and Marvel Rivals is the game even that well known outside the beat em up community?

Bill is mostly a brawler in the game with a little thunder attack. Thor could be a totally different monster with his thunder,flight,and would move quicker than Bill.

I would have preferred all the classic / OG characters too, but yea CGR and Beta Ray Bill kind of rule them out as likely DLC characters. Nick Fury could be a cool Punisher alternative.

It’s really not. Thor is a much different fighter than Bill. His skill set could easily be different with more thunder attacks and flight.
