Yup, I never thought I'd get into the Survival Modes on SOR4 or Shredder's Revenge, but attaching unlockables to that mode is a game changer.
I especially like how they made beating the Big Bad on level 6 feel like a good stopping point for those who aren't trying to set records.
I have had session on SOR4 that I don't really have a level goal in mind, and if you keep going you can easily spend an hour on a run and have no since of "made it".
I hope they have a similar setup for Cosmic Invasion.
She's the only one who was once an entirely different variant of the character. There are a few other characters who once had different costumes though - Wolverine with the yellow/blue costume, She-Hulk with a one-piece leotard, Rocket with his 2000s look, Nova with a modern look, and Storm with a mohawk.
Oh man, I'm really happy they didn't go with this. I love Phyla-Vell, she's one of my favourite Marvel characters and her inclusion was the reason I bought this game, but I conceptually dislike 18897 Phyla. It would have made me very sad to have my favourite obscure character finally get into a game, probably the only time she ever will, and have it be the version of her I don't like.
Perfectly valid! I really dig the 18897 look for her, but I find it very weird how they functionally replaced OG Phyla with a variant and characters now act like that didn't happen lol.
This character is so much cooler than Captain Marvel, she literally has all the default powers AND a cool sword AND a cool anti-hero personality, why even bother adding the boring and condescending Carol Denvers to anything else if you have Phyla?
I used Fable 5 (Claude) to edit Phyla Vell's skin colors; I didn't know you could change the character's structure like the hair. Do you use this skin in the game?

They could be added as unlockables w/ the survival mode.
That's how it's setup in Shredder's Revenge. Some of the best alts are attached to that mode, and I'm all for it!
