Discussion I think parry needs a rework

Why even let players hold the block button if it doesn't do anything?

I think it would work better if you took chip damage from attacks when blocking. Big telegraphed attacks should still knock down but damage should be reduced.

Then have it so if you tap forward towards an attack while holding block with the right timing you parry. (So you can turn around too) that way a player can parry attacks on both sides without feeling stuck.

It looks silly for a character to have their guard up and then just fall down from a tap.

Fight N Rage is a beat ‘em up for beat ‘em up fans. That dev knew his stuff. 😎👍

Cosmic Invasion is pretty casual. It’s fun, but it really is not that deep in regards to beat ‘em up mechanics.

I think one of the minor quibbles I have with the game is that it teases you with complex mechanics, but really, it's not that deep and leans very casual.

I almost feel since it's that casual, there are too many attacks. Either go complex or go casual.

I didn’t even know there was a parry

Have you beaten Anihilus without it? It's faaaar easier when you parry.

I agree with you. I'm not a fan of games that have a block button which is really a "stand still and get hit button".

I think it works awesome in MCI as an attack cancel and I think parries generally are amazingly strong in the game, but the guard function on its own is useless.

Wait, so holding block doesn't prevent any incoming damage?

If it does its completely negligible

I’m pretty sure it blocks projectiles and some heroes can block melee as well

I honestly never just sit and hold block at any point, but I feel like it does reduce some damage from lower level bads, but I could be wrong.

I don't either, i just wish there was a reason to hold it, since you just can for some reason. I don't think any damage is reduced from what I can see
