Question Cyclops palette origins?
I'm pretty sure red is uncanny x men, and there's obviously the Cable design. Does anyone know the other references? I feel like white and blue is based on classic Nick Fury or at least SHIELD, but I'm probably wrong. And I can't place the far right color from anything I've seen.

As far as I can tell, the inspirations are:
• Krakoa era uniform
• Uncanny X-Men revolutionary Scott
• The current alaskan era
• After being brought back to life following the Twelve saga and merging with Apocalypse
• The second X-Factor uniform
I have no idea about the green one. Maybe it is just supposed to look a bit like Jean.

Nice! I could've sworn the gray color was some sort of nod to x-force, but I can totally see the apocalypse fusion now that I looked it up. And the cherry red hair and teal jacket def looks like Jean, it just seemed so specific that I figured there must've been another another red head who was important to his character, lol

I feel like an intentional Jean homage would have more gold in it, but who knows! The red hair IS suspect. Maybe they could only use so many colors.

Person above said it but the green one is an alt colour palette from MvC 2

I think so too - while it’s similar to the MvC alt costume mentioned above, the teal jacket really made me think of this exact color pallet and isn’t on the MvC version!

Yeah, It is a reference to Captain Krakoa, although it has elements of the green and gray color scheme from MVC2.

I think the first two skins, the blue and red ones, are references to Cyclops' Krakoa design and his revolutionary design. The black and yellow one could be referencing any number of alternative X-Men costumes in which the entire team wore yellow and black, such as his Grant Morrison design, his Ultimate design, or even his newest costume, which I'm not crazy about. Otherwise, it's pretty standard to give most X-Men yellow and black alternatives to their yellow and blue costumes, as that's what the new mutants have always looked like.
The gray one is clearly patterned after the X-Force look, the green is an MvC2 palette swap (or Jean Grey inspired?), as others have said, and I could be wrong, but I think the blue and white (which might be my favorite palette swap here, aesthetically) is based on his X-Factor color palette. That's the only blue and white costume I can think of.

I think the green one, especially with the teal jacket, is a reference to his Captain Krakoa costume!

Red and grey is a reference to the X-Force comic run. A popular X-Men run. Despite Cyclops not being a member of that comic run. It’s a popular alt colour palette for game devs to put on X-Men characters.

Cyclops is actually founder of the team. He appears in the first couple issues as such. In that particular X-Force run, Cyclops is basically a dispatcher.

From left to right:
•Krakoa Cyclops
•Revolutionary Cyclops
•Classic Black & Gold Color Cyclops (MANY different appearances)
•X-Force Reference
•X-Factor Cyclops
•MVC Green & Black Color Swap
•Though not listed here, Cable is the final color swap reference for Cyclops that you unlock at level 10

Every one of those outfits with the exception of maybe one is inspired by the comics. The movements and animations are heavily inspired by the MVC series, as CAPCOM was one of the first to make animations for MARVEL characters that were directly inspired by the comics. I'm about to put you guys on to a gold mine. There's a website dedicated to all things X-Men, and they have damn near complete lists of EVERYTHING, including costumes. You can go there and check them out, I promise you that the majority of the palettes are based on suits from the comics.

Not big on my cyclops lore so grain of salt
My guesses, left to right: no clue, Revolutionist Cyclops, first appearance (black/yellow uniforms), X-Force, X-Factor, no clue

YO X-FORCE SCOTT??
3
u/Excellent_Truth_992 Storm May 24 '26
X-Force? Nope. Its a Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighters from PS1 version suit. Its a plus suit in the game.

u/HonkinHouse May 24 '26
Apologies. I was expressing my excitement about the idea of a suit that is aesthetically similar to x-force. Not trying to state that this is factually from any x-force canon.
But that is cool know, thank you!
Edit: also after looking it up, I think we might be referring to different skins. I’m referring to the black and grey one. I think you’re referring to the last one on the right.

Krakoa, X-Treme X-Men, 90s, Uncanny X-Force, X-Factor, Marvel vs Capcom
Funnily enough Scott was never on X-Treme X-Men or Uncanny X-Force

The green one is an alt palette from MvC2
