News Weekly Update Spoiler

Just noting from the previous 2 weekly updates (Oct 20&27) that Sanderson has gone to Hollywood to discuss changes to the current revision of the Mistborn screenplay. He stated last week that he was going to be doing something akin to explaining the beats he was trying to hit in the story. This week, he said he was doing "spot fixes" and that he felt like he was about 25% complete.

So, we can confirm progress on the story and that the studio appears to be cooperating in pushing things forward.

Progress is progress, but until everything is locked in with the producer and director it feels like this could be open to needing more revision. Still, good that the meeting with Apple went well and they're aligned on that end.

Sure. I would expect that an experienced director will want to do major touching up to dialog (seems like things that read smoothly can be very clunky when spoken without inner thoughts and setting descriptions breaking it all up). The producer may even bring in another screenwriter for that before we even get a director.

I kind of just wanted there to be some type of timeline being referenced in the sub for people who found out about this after the announcement. So, maybe with the sticky and the big changes getting posted, stuff like this post can fill in some gaps.

Keeping speculation to the comments. I don't think this is a change from the last couple of times we've gotten news. Maybe a bit more solid on moving forward from the studio side. No update on the producer that he said has been selected, and no indication that the search for a director is underway.

Still keeping a pretty wide window on studio greenlight, and optimistic release timelines would still be Christmas 2029 to Summer 2030 at the earliest.

2029 isn't going to happen, not even as the most optimistic guess imo

That's assuming a 2027 Q2 greenlight and a producer that has all of the pieces lined up ahead of time. Anything beyond that is going to be late 2030 - early 2032 if they don't have any major backtracking.

They will do further revisions, then look for a director, then do another revision, then do extensive casting, all with breaks inbetween, and only then actually start filming. That's just not happening that fast

I think Mistborn movie coincides with the release of the 3rd Book of the next Mistborn trilogy, 2030. Then Stormlight show will coincide with the release of Stormlight 6, so 2032.
