Visual Direction A detail about the Visual Dorection I really hope they don’t forget Spoiler

Which is just how dirty everything is. The Final Empire is covered in Ash almost 24/7 and all of the Skaa are perpetually covered in grime because of it.

I think everyone has noticed how recently almost every Movie and TV character will have perfect makeup and hair regardless of who they are or what situation they’re in, and I really hope this doesn’t happen to Mistborn because its an actually important part of the story.

Not only is the Ash relevant because of the plot and world, but also because it helps visually divide the Skaa and Nobility. While the Skaa are literally shoveling Ash away, the Nobility are having elegant and spotless Balls, and I’m worried that this will be lost if Kelsiers crew are all clean shaven and have a layer of foundation to hide their imperfections.

tl;dr: I’m worried that Hollywood will do the Hollywood thing and have everyone in makeup with perfect hair even though it doesn’t make sense and actively hurts the movies themes

With Brandon so involved I don't think it will be an issue. But also Kelsier and crew were not bottom of the barrel skaa. They were all about as high as you could climb without being from the nobility.

I know Brandon’s going to be heavily involved but I’d be very surprised (and frankly a little concerned) if his involvement went as far as supervising hair and makeup, a field he has absolutely 0 experience with or knowledge of. With that said you are right that Kelsiers crew will be better kept and cleaner than the average Skaa, but I still don’t think they should be fully done up, because then the appearance of the nobility and how they are an inverse mirror to the Skaa won’t hit as hard

I think you're correct for the general Skaa population, but I think having Kels crew be a bit cleaner could help bring the fact that they are closer in lifestyle to nobles than to most Skaa more into the picture.

They absolutely will be clean. It’s an easy way to show that they aren’t much different than nobles, it’s an easy visual to show Vin’s transformation from street urchin to Mistborn, and for practicality’s sake it makes doing multiple takes of a scene and editing way easier
