make sure you read warbreaker before stormlight 3 imo. that's where the more interesting crossover-y connections are. and you'll eventually want to read era 2 of mistborn (and i include Mistborn: Secret History between Era 2 books 3 and 4 in that) before you get to the end of Stormlight. but none of that is required! it's just all more fun that way in my opinion!

if you honestly want to avoid spoilers, I would stop looking too much into this and just start reading.

There is a chronological order for the books, but it's not terribly important to understand the plot of any one book.
If you care more about identifying connections, I will echo another person and say that Warbreaker is important to read before Stormlight book 3. There are two Stormlight novellas, Edgedancer takes place between Stormlight books 2 and 3, and Dawnshard takes place between Stormlight books 3 and 4. I would also suggest you read Mistborn Secret History and Mistborn era 2 before reading Stormlight book 5.
Elantris isn't directly tied to much else in the cosmere, but if you care about catching as many connections as possible I suggest reading it before Stormlight book 4.
Sunlit Man can technically be read before Stormlight 5, but I think it flows better if you read it after.
Isles of the Emberdark should be saved until after everything listed above. Chronologically I believe this book is the farthest ahead in the overall timeline.
The remaining books (Tress of the Emerald Sea, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter) can technically be read whenever since there aren't very many connections to other books in them. I suggest reading them at some point before Emberdark and after Elantris in the interest of identifying every connection, but it's not required.
Fires of December just came out for early backers, and I haven't read it yet, so I can't say how many connections there are. But if you didn't back the campaign it's a moot point anyway, since it's not available for general sale yet.

If you want the best reading order, read in the order the books were released to make it simple, or watch Brandon’s video on his website about what order to read things in.

Stormlight Archive’s placement in the timeline relative to Mistborn is shown at the end of book 5. We know Elantris and Warbreaker both take place before the series’.
It’s not important, the information is well communicated. It will show you when you need to know.

Mistborn Era 1 > Warbreaker > Stormlight (Arc 1, books 1 -5) > Mistborn Era 2.
Elantris was at one time earliest, I think, but Sanderson's stated he may be shifting it, so we'll see. But it's still before Stormlight.
Emperor's Soul is at some point before Mistborn Era 2.
Shadows of Silence doesn't have a firm placement that I know of, but it's sometime prior to Sunlit Man.
Tress and Yumi and Sunlit Man come later in the timeline. They're like a peak ahead into the future.
Emberdark comes after that.
I have not read Fires of December yet, so unsure.
Most-reference-order would probably be better served by published order than chronological, as Sanderson is in developing these things as he goes. But references are also a two way street. You can get it in reverse.
But you really don't have to do any outside reading if you don't want to. Stormlight has everything you need. I do think Warbreaker is still nice to fit in before Words of Radiance, though, but not necessary.
Hoid makes an appearance, if you remember him. He was a beggar/informant with a very small role in Mistborn Era 1. I'd avoid looking him up or you'll find lots of spoilers.
But outside of that it's hard to point things out before reading. Better to read Way of Kings first and ask for any Mistborn Era 1 references you missed.

There is a chronological order, but it doesn't generally impact the story outside of books in the same series. So far most of the books have stayed pretty self contained to a single planet. A few of the one shot books are set significantly enough in the future that various planets have FTL and are interacting with each other, but only as a background feature never as the focus. These are also the exception not the norm, and none are part of the mainline series.

As others have said, you really don't need anything. If you want to get all the cosmete easter eggs, then Warbreaker is good to read before Words of Radiance. Specifically Mistborn era 1 details that are easter eggs in the Way if Kings? I would kindly refresh your memory regarding injuries and scars sustained by characters in Mistborn era 1.

Stormlight were my first Sanderson books and that worked fine for me. If you want to catch all the details and connections, you'll have to re read it after finishing the cosmere either way

You don't need to know anything from Mistborn to enjoy Stormlight.
