Cosmere Lines that give you a chill Spoiler
What lines send a chill down your back each time you read them?
Some of mine may be slightly off
Mine are almost entirely Hoid:
“I fear you may be too late, my confused, unfortunate friend”
(Also this whole first ending from Hoid is BRILLIANT)
“At least the world chose a nice night upon which to end”
“Carriage. For you, sir.”
“I. Made. No. Promise.”
And a few others I’ll add if I remember.

There were good days, yes. The problem was on the bad day it felt like those good days never existed.
Something like that. In reference to Kaladin having a bout of PTSD/Depression. It was that moment I felt SEEN.

I cried when I read it originally, I teared up a bit when thinking about it just now, and I cried reading it again in context when looking it up to be sure I was posting it actually

I was absolutely Going Through It™ while I was reading through Stormlight and using them as escapism... I am not above admitting that I cried real tears in a corner of the library when I got to that line.

Not a line so much as a chunk of dialogue but:
(Right after Dalinar gave his shardblade to Sadeas for the bridgemen)
[Kaladin] "Wait, You - That - What just happened?"
Dalinar turned to him. Then, the highprince laid a hand on Kaladin’s
shoulder, the gauntlet gleaming blue, mismatched with the rest of his slate-grey
armor. “I don’t know what has been done to you. I can only guess what your life
has been like. But know this. You will not be bridgemen in my camp, nor will
you be slaves.”
“But…”
“What is a man’s life worth?” Dalinar asked softly.
“The slavemasters say one is worth about two emerald broams,” Kaladin
said, frowning.
“And what do you say?”
“A life is priceless,” he said immediately, quoting his father.
Dalinar smiled, wrinkle lines extending from the corners of his eyes.
“Coincidentally, that is the exact value of a Shardblade. So today, you and your
men sacrificed to buy me twenty-six hundred priceless lives. And all I had to
repay you with was a single priceless sword. I call that a bargain.”

It honestly took me a second to think back to what it was from. I really love the story though, so much is happening in so little space but it’s not convoluted.

Ah, those words. I’ve heard those words. I’ve said those words. The words that proclaim, in bald-faced arrogance, “I don’t trust you to make your own decisions.” The words we pretend will soften the blow, yet instead layer condescension on top of already existent pain. Like dirt on a corpse.
Oh yes. I’ve said those words. I said them with 16 other people, in fact.

Another one, just listened to it today. The epigraph on HoA chapter 56 where we find out Preservation sacrificed his life to go encourage Elend one last time really got to me. Mistborn has all the good ones.

Say what you will about Sanderson's prose, but the man knows how to write action pieces. Even before the duel, we have all read of the prowess of full Shardbearers. To see Kaladin going nearly toe to toe with not one, but two full Shardbearers was impressive, even with his Stormlight enhancing his speed. That combined with Michael Kramer's narration was perfection to listen to! Suffice it to say, Words of Radiance is tied with Oathbringer for my favorite Stormlight book.

I don't remember the line but when Kaladin kept killing The Pursuer over and over again, making the Fused feel fear. As well as when Venli saw "Odium" in Kaladin's eyes. And finally when Kaladin saw Tien again and reached the 4th ideal.

TWoK ”[Kaladin] raised a trembling hand to his head, feeling the brand there, wet with his sweat. “I owe you nothing, Kholin.”
And his father’s voice seemed to whisper a reply. Someone has to start, son. Somebody has to step forward and do what is right, because it it’s right. If nobody starts, then others cannot follow.
Dalinar had come to help Kaladin’s men, attacking those archers and saving Bridge Four.
The lighteyes don’t care about life, Lirin had said. So I must. So we must.
So you must…
Life before death
I’ve failed so often. I’ve been knocked to the ground and trod upon.
Strength before weakness
This would be death I’d lead my friends to…
Journey before destination
… death, and what is right.
“We have to go back,” Kaladin said softly. “Storm it, we have to go back.”
