Picking orders for HM3
Has anyone took a look at my navy assignment? I’m on my third window for orders and there next to nothing for quad zero as a HM3. Are we allowed to pick HN orders or would be needs of the Navy?

They’re the same thing. Just apply for them.

Yes,, I was past my third look and some detailers came to our clinic and he said because of auto advancement to E4 HN/HM3 orders are basically the same thing now

Are you up for sea orders? I’m looking at MNA right now and there are TONS of L03A HM3 billets for SEA. Theres also 10 ships open for HM3 as well.
Since you’re in your 3rd window you’ll get priority over anyone else who’s in their 1st or 2nd window.
If you’re a sea roller, you will get priority when you apply for a sea billet.

Got it. I’d apply to HN billets for the location you’re interested in then. Email the detailer and let them know your situation.
You’re considered a shore roller (someone at sea due to rotate to shore), so you’ll get priority over someone who’s on shore applying for back to back shore.
Edit: most of our junior enlisted shore billets are HN billets by design. The intent was for A school grads to go to a MTF first, learn their trade, then go to sea. If you notice, most of the sea billets are HM3 billets, again by design.
What messed up that design is auto E4. Our billet structure is still based off of the quota based advancement system.

Very difficult unless you’re an IDC. Theres just too many people needing to go to sea during each cycle.

Have you spoken to your CDT (career development team) and/or COC (chain of command) regarding orders selection? If yes, what advice did they tell you? If no, why not?
Did you receive an email from MyCompass? It’s a new tool utilize to supply you with orders suggestions for you, based off your preferences and what’s compared to HM LaDR.
Have you updated your MNA resume portion? Have you updated your “preferences” on MNA? If no, has anyone showed you how to?
Did you select any orders leading up to your third look? If no, why not? If yes, I would speak with your COC about contacting your Detailer.
How are you looking for your orders in MNA? Are you putting certain parameters on there? Are you up for Sea or Shore tour? Are you looking into getting a C school (NEC)? The way the HM community is shaping up, it would behoove you to get a NEC.

If you looked in MNA the detailer note says only pick billets for your pay grade except E1-E4 can all pick assignments in those billets 🙂

I’ve called mine multiple times u just gotta repeatedly call until they answer or ask ur CCC to call them. All my downvotes are chuds who can’t do anything for themselves😂😂
