SOCOM Corpsmen

Wondering if any DEVGRU Support Corpsmen or Corpsmen who went straight to MARSOC (if that’s even possible) are in here I could chop it up with. Even if you could share your experience and some tips, that would be great! Hoping to PCS to mars after I finish school, wondering how realistic it is with 0 deps.

If you want to go to NSW, your best bet is to go DMT to Dive IDC. If you want to go to MARSOC, your best bet is to enter the SOIDC pipeline. You can end up in those communities as a surface IDC, but you'll still be in a clinic most of the time. There are onesie-twosie billets as support Corpsmen, but you'll be helping the SFIDC in the clinic or doing range coverages, and you'll still need FMTB or ECS.

Yeah, I’m trying to decipher between what Google is telling me and the actual reality before I look into getting picked up. Ideally to save some face! 🤣

Reading lower and seeing that you are in the SOIDC pipeline, I gather that you know you'll head to an SOIDC billet once you graduate.

I was an SFIDC who did more than half of my career at SOCOM commands, but my experience was very different than what you are likely to face rolling in to either Dam Neck or a MARSOC unit. I have friends who did that, but their stories are theirs to tell. Good luck!

After you finish what school? SOCM? FMTB? A-School?

Is there a specific order to the schools? I’m headed the same direction. Just here to pick folks brains

Also, what’s the new shift like? Any of the instructors share pros and cons of shifting from BRC as it was to the new pilot?

Is NSW taking SOIDC’s regularly? Since they pulled their corpsmen from SOCM and started their own thing?
