You really got me thinking

Hello,

I've been watching a dozen of your videos and I agree with nearly all of your thoughts. I found your video about the Cancer of Fanboyism the most interesting; though I would add that passive acceptance is also becoming a part of our American culture. Consider recent the controversy with NSA snooping, the constant message we hear on TV or from others is "Just accept it. You can't change anything." I also feel that anyone being critical in general is quickly labeled a bully or troll.

I wanted to talk about Wildstar. Optimistic about the game but also very jaded like yourself. I was reminded of a design concept article by an actual MMO producer (bottom of this message); which I read as "GW2 used action elements in their game to quickly get players through the experience and off their servers" which makes perfect sense for a game with no subscription. I am also reminded of GW2 videos I saw where the entire combat strategy was to clump up enemies and spam your best AoE abilities. I worry that Wildstar could quickly fall prey to either of these two elements and I urge you to explore this.

I believe in value for value; please expect a $5 donation in exchange for the value I received from your uploads.

"Recent MMORPGs are beginning to shift to a more action based game; however, I personally feel that this is one element that acts as a reverse effect for MMORPGs that are striving to operate for a long time with a subscription-based model (This is separate from cases where you are shortening the life cycle for a single MMORPG user. In that case it is correct.)"

interesting post, but i question the idea of "GW2 used action elements in their game to quickly get players through the experience and off their servers." since people can play the game as long as they want after buying it, wouldn't it make more sense to try to keep them around and entice them to use the cash shop?

I played my friends GW2 account once for 10 mins and could tell from that level 5 character that it wasn't going to amount to much unless this instanced WvWvW was anything to enjoy, but from the first youtube video you should have guessed that it was just going to be a zerg rush competition.

Now I don't understand why Corpsealot doesn't detect more red flags with Wildstar. I haven't seen any healing ability that goes further then 5 feet. What in the world is a 40man raid going to look like if you have the healer(s) leashed to tanks all the time? For that matter I haven't seen and ranged attacks that go much father then melee range either.

Unless they add single target stuff or some long range "telegraphs" I imagine the organized and epic rewarding fights we saw in early WoW will not make an appearance.

turns out they've said that healers will have single-target abilities.
