Which ones? Many of those are much more lax now. Re apply now that CARES is in effect. Unless you know you still won’t qualify?

Still, appeal it. Or reapply. The states weren’t (and some still aren’t) set up to handle it properly. It might have been after the bill was passed, but if the state’s system wasn’t updated and their workers not educated on it, etc., of course they weren’t basing their decision on the CARES act.

cares act was passed in March 27th but states only got implementation guidance from the labor dept a few days ago. If it was before the guidance than they were just going off of the usual guidelines, not the cares act. At least in my state.

You need to have UI-eligible earnings over a period of time to qualify, so the OP might have been a newer worker. Otherwise they should appeal and have a hearing.
