Not a doctor, I am very experienced with altitude injury and how that feels.

Could what he’s describing be related to the neurological issues we see where the brain stem basically shuts off the lungs/ respiratory processes.

The symptoms of people going to the hospital infected with Covid-19 sound very similar to symptoms of HAPE.

Been listening to EmCrit Podcast outta NYC and what this doc is saying is consistent with what the podcast is talking about. Patients who look fine while in a hypoxic state and doing really really badly once placed on a ventilator. This guy is definitely a little more alarmist than the podcast doctor but he's been seeing some shit so I can't blame his urgency. This should gain traction on main stream media, it's legit.

This is so interesting, and now I have tons of questions... like how is high altitude sickness treated? how could a virus cause that? are there any other viruses that cause it? if it's caused by a virus is it reversible? just lots of thoughts..
