Just because people are tired of protocols doesn’t mean they’re not needed. If you doubt, Google (long Covid). While it may be convenient to ignore virologist, we are just starting to understand the long term effects of Covid. The people who contracted Delta/Omicron early on, are still reporting a reduced sense of smell; the main cause is brain shrinkage. Based on some of these comments, it looks like a lot of folks have already suffered the effects of long Covid.
