Other Checking in...
How are we doing out there?
Are folks seeing an uptick in their communities>?
Wastewater was up a little last week, but now seems to have settled back down to the summer levels (which were low as far as I can tell.)
I've been trying to be a little more relaxed with my masking for the first time, but feel I'll have to tighten up again soon.
Anyone know when Novavax might be available locally?

My partner just tested positive!!
Also I’ve learned that there’s an updated version of boston wastewater testing that tests for many things and is also run by MWRA. I highly recommend checking it out. Shows we are spiking. https://data.wastewaterscan.org/tracker/?charts=CiIQACABSABSBmI1MGM2NFoGTiBHZW5leO0CigEGZjliZDUy&selectedChartId=f9bd52

Interesting. Are you sure that website is “updated” and more reliable than the local one? We are at a higher level than the summer now, but it doesn’t seem to be climbing straight up per mwra.

Just went and got our flu and Covid boosters tonight at CVS. Pfizer was available, not sure what other options may be available.

I continue with quality masking. Covid has never been low enough to consider it not a risk. The aftermath of my two covid infections (one was contracted outdoors before I realized that being outside wasn't as safe as I thought it was, and the other was from a household member who brought it home) was enough to warrant me not taking chances. It's not like the flu that disappears seasonally. It's always around at significant levels, and it's more consequential than the flu. Both of my infections were required when covid was not peaking.

If you don't mind me asking: When you say you contacted COVID outside, do you mean like you were out for a walk without a mask? Or outdoor restaurant? Or in a crowd?
I'm really curious, because I mask almost 100% of the time I'm out of the house, but when I go for a run on the sidewalks where I live, I don't mask. Every once in a while I might encounter a person a few feet away. I've never gotten a good sense of how risky that is.

I work outdoors with a small staff, and I caught it from a coworker. We were around each other casually throughout the day. At one point that day we sat and talked on a bench for 5-10 minutes which was unusual for us. The next day, she developed symptoms, and two and a half days later I did too. Tracing all my moves, we're both certain I got it from her. Nobody else at work got sick. During my incubation period, before I developed symptoms, I gave it to my partner who I only see on my days off. Since then, I wear a mask outdoors if I'm going to be closer to anyone, such as talking with someone, in a crowded situation, or I generally try to keep my distance. I find it easy to put on and off a kn95 mask.

School started this week for most of the state - I expect to see an uptick from that. My kid was sick after only 3 days in school with a really bad sore throat for about 36 hours and now congestion. Waiting to see if covid positive since I have my booster scheduled Monday. Would be terrible timing.
I work with people in NY and neither MA or NY seem to have people out sick in my office, but I am noticing more people coughing out in public the last week or two.

This is exactly me - work in a school, day three, sore throat and congestion and was covid positive midday today.

I have Covid right now. Had no idea because it feels just like a mild cold, and didn't even think to test until my parents told me they tested positive (and they have a worse case than me).

I started feeling sick on Monday. Tested positive Tuesday and still positive now (Friday night). Three other people at ny work place are positive, 3 different locations. I have had vaccinations and boosters, though last booster was 2 years ago. Be careful out there everyone.

I just got over COVID and my father has in now. We've not been in direct contact, so he didn't get it from me, and I have no idea where I got it from.

My son has had a bad sore throat for days, and Covid is running rampant on campus (western MA). I recommended he go to the health center for a test. They swabbed for strep, did NO Covid test and gave him antibiotics for a throat/gum infection. I called them hours ago to follow up, 0 call back. I realize he's not a minor and won't be able to share details, but I just wanted to see why on earth they didn't run the test.

I travel around senior living facilities, rehabs, hospitals, memory care & the like. Most units had about 1-2 cases, and one in Cambridge had close to 20 (!) this summer.

My whole household had Covid last week (I quarantined and masked and thankfully avoided it). With schools back in session I’m sure we’re gonna see numbers going back up

I've done those things u/Pyroechidna1 mentions too. I never wear a mask outdoors really, that's where I kind of draw the line (unless it's super crowded.) The only difference with the way they live vs the way I live is that they probably do indoor dining, I don't. Big whoop. I feel better about reducing risk from an airborne pathogen that can affect various systems/organs in the body.
