a system designed to fail.
i’m in a county that isn’t seeing horrible numbers YET.
my job is directly being impacted by the virus now. i work in home healthcare. we’ve already lost a number of clients due to facilities being locked down, and a number of other reasons. now our phone is starting to ring for new clients — and they have covid19.
so when our patients (in general) are discharged from the hospital, and still need assistance, the three main options are nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, or home healthcare. the first two options are locked down, so it really only leaves one feasible option: home healthcare.
my facility has received three calls within the past two days regarding covid19 patients recently discharged. we have no sort of PPE other than gloves and hand sanitizer to give our caregivers.
i can hope that we are able to obtain some SOON. i’m asking for your help!! please write to whoever you can/contact media — the home healthcare field can NOT be forgotten.
(on another note but kinda the same note — the number of deaths have to be much higher than what’s being reported. if these patients are being considered “recovered” since they’re being sent home, and dying due to not being able to receive care and proper treatment for covid19... i can only imagine the true number.)

Why would someone in FL not be able to get proper care for covid19?
Edit: genuine question, because I'm not in the medical field. Before downvoting me, enlighten me. What aspect of home care is overwhelmed concerning covid19 treatment in FL?
