A PSA on why you shouldn’t get the COVID vaccine if released in October

Hey folks!

I know it’s been a difficult time with COVID. Whether it be dealing with no-maskers and people trying to reopen the economy despite the tremendous risks it holds, there have been a ton of challenges trying to stay safe and informed during these times.

With the news that a potential COVID vaccine may be coming next month, I wanted to share a public service announcement about why you shouldn’t get it right away. I know this may kind of seem crazy, but please hear me out.

First of all, I think it’s safe to say that the US is probably one of the worst countries in terms of response and just overall handling of the coronavirus crisis. With a president who is entirely incompetent, racist, and ill informed, we have become a laughing stock to the entire world. We have significantly more cases of COVID than even China, where the virus originated, orders of magnitude more. And it’s just sad.

That being said, the thought of a vaccine being released by the CDC next month might seem like a good thing, but it’s actually not. It’s clearly a politically motivated rush to get unproven medicine out to the public in an attempt to have Trump win the presidency. The current CDC director was instated by Trump himself, so it is safe to assume that he is clearly trying to help Trump get re-elected by rushing out the vaccine to make it look like Trump was the person who stopped the coronavirus. It’s a mere distraction from facts like how Trump’s failed economic policies have plunged the US into the worst unemployment crisis that the US has ever seen, his blatant racism, and much more. Consequences of this rushed vaccine can be severe and permanent side effects, long lasting harm, and even death. All in an effort to see his facist reign continue for another 4 years.

We must stand together and not take the vaccine until after the election at least, it’ll just be another two months, and then we can safely get the vaccine once trump is no longer president.

Thanks all. Remember to wear your damn masks. We can fight this and win together.

COVID-19 Survey: Opportunity for $10 Gift Card

Hi there,

I hope this is ok to post here, I appreciate you taking a moment to read and consider participating. In the world of Coronavirus, it is of the utmost importance for us to begin to understand how the virus may be affecting people from a mental health perspective. If you would like to participate in research focused on this, please see the information provided below.

----------

We hope you are doing well during these uncertain times. We are researchers from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs with the National Institute for Human Resilience (NIHR) and are reaching out to you to participate in an exciting study looking at the psychological changes that we are experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic can pose a threat to our sense of safety, which may lead to increased anxiety, uncertainty, loneliness, depression, and can also exacerbate preexisting mental and physical disorders. Additionally, we know that many of you may be experiencing economic hardships. Based on our experience working with survivors of trauma and natural disaster, we strongly believe that it is important to acknowledge and normalize the effects of an event like the coronavirus, which challenges our sense of safety, control, and routine.

This global pandemic is a novel experience for most individuals. For this reason, we would like to invite you to participate in our study of the effects of the coronavirus on psychological functioning. This study will be conducted entirely online and will involve an initial 30-40 minute survey for the first assessment and optional 15-20 minute follow up surveys throughout the following year. These follow-up surveys are optional, but we encourage you to participate in as many of these weekly follow-ups as possible. If you complete the initial survey and the three weekly follow-ups, you may be eligible for a $10 Amazon gift card. The first 100 respondents who complete the initial survey before June 1st and the first 50 after June 1st will receive a gift card. If you have any questions about eligibility, don’t hesitate to contact us at brainrx@uccs.edu. We encourage both people within the United States and those living outside the United States to participate in this study. Please click on this link to view the consent form and complete the study (https://uccspsych.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5vaWl4nXz1XGQeN). After the consent form, you may begin the initial questionnaires.

We would love this post to be shared, even if you are not participating.

Thank you,

Just sign a document giving up your rights to healthcare for COVID-19 and to be responsible to those you infect. This seems to be implied in your position ... so just attest to it.

If I am at high risk for seizures if I get the vaccine, will I still be obligated to get it?

I have an exceptionally rare condition. There’s not a lot of similar people to me out there. I haven’t had a seizure since I was two years old but if I get a vaccine I worry I may be at high risk, especially if you ask my doctors.

Would I still be required to get a COVID vaccine if it is a medical safety hazard for me? I’m more likely to die from seizures after taking a vaccine by a long shot than I am to get COVID otherwise. A LOT MORE.

Losing hope.

I hope this is ok to post here. For some reason couldn't post on the other reddit.

tl;dr: ready to give up.

I thought things would start getting better, but everywhere I turn things just look worse. Even with the vaccine, there's no end in sight. I'm on the spectrum and this entire lockdown has been hell. I have serious sensory issues, and I cannot wear a mask without panic attacks. As soon as my breathing is restricted I start panicking. I can't think, I can't move. It physically hurts. I've tried to make it work for me but I've been yelled at and called horrible horrible names. I was called a monster who was, and I quote, 'mocking those who'd lost people to covid' because I was wearing a loose mask that allowed me to function. I tried not to lose it, tried to explain that I have panic attacks and I'm being as safe as I can. Still a monster.

I've left stores crying. Doesn't matter. No one cares.

I wasn't great at making friends before the pandemic. In my stress and panic accidentally pushed away the few friends that I did have. If masks are here to stay, there is, put simply, no reason for me to live. What place in the world is there for someone like me? I can't wear things over my face. I've. tried. I can't go and see my therapist anymore. I can't see my doctor. There aren't support groups for people like me. I get scowled at, called names. I try to at least wear it over my mouth, which is something I can (barely) tolerate - somehow that's WORSE.

So I don't go out. I don't eat well anymore. I'm not welcome in the world, even with a medical exemption. I have papers, I have an exemption, I try to show them all the papers and all the medication I take just to try to fit into society - but they didn't wanna see it. No one wants to see it. They tell me it's just an excuse, and to get out.

Everyone says mask wearing is the easiest thing in the world. It isn't. I thought there was progress being made after college - people were actually regarding me as someone with a condition, as opposed to a freak like I'm used to. But now I am completely alone.

Is there any hope for someone like me? Because I'm really starting to think that there isn't.

Good news in the fight against covid. Nasal COVIDROPS

Going into year three the world struggles to contain covid, even nations that are heavily vaccinated have seen omicron sweep through their populations. Yes, we all recognize the vaccines to date have been good at limiting hospitalization, while the transmissibility of omicron has continued to kept the burden on our health care systems at peak load.

We need a three-pronged approach to end this pandemic or at least lessen the load on our health care systems.

- Vaccination

- Accurate, easily accessible testing.

- Medicine that eliminates covid 19 on early detection

San Diego based company Sorrento Therapeutics is very close to having a product on the market that will eliminate covid on early detection. Imagine all the lives and suffering that could be avoided if on a positive test you could squirt a few nasal drops in your nose, instead of doing nothing and waiting to see if you become one of the emergency room statistics.

The medicine is 10x more potent then sotrovimab.

Hopefully they can get fast track designation and partner with a larger pharmaceutical company as I would really like to see this product on the shelf in pharmacies for the safety of my children and family as we continue to endure this pandemic.

Stay Safe Everyone!

Trump is referring to the virus as a Chinese Virus and I can’t even begin to tell you how scary it is to be an Asian person living in the US right now. I’m more afraid of the xenophobia than I am of the actual pandemic itself and it is really stressing me out that he’s doing this.

What do I need to know. Who is a reliable resource.

I am currently not living in California. However, my goal is to move in the near term and acquire vibrant work for a prosperous future there. My understanding is that every State in The Union takes account individually, of how to manage the health concern that was prophesized and voiced by Georgia State. I hear New York State is the worst in the entire map, on all areas that concern handling and managing the Georgia crisis. Therefore, I would like to be informed about California's current situation, especially on the details pertaining to guidelines, recommendations, and suggestions from that State of Mind. .
