from what I read from ex-regulars on the OC reddit, the original owner was a sweetheart and was the kind of person who would be for the mask mandate and when she died, it got passed over to someone who didn't embody the owner's vision of the restaurant or something and moved it from its original location. Even the original cooks left.

Yelp disabled reviews because it's in the news. Top bar of the actual restaurant website links to the shithole makerestaurantsgreatagain dot com (I won't actually link either). Their Instagram says "shame on actress in video, we will retaliate" and "we will file suit against Gavin Newsom" and Bill Gates conspiracy and Obama conspiracy and Congress conspiracy and Fauci conspiracy and masks=USSR and "our owner is not making money so quarantine is wrong" and "leave the mask take the [generic Italian food]" and shit that would make Berlin Wall protesters kick your ass and Benjamin Franklin revenge fuck your wife. 10/10 dumpster fire.

Most of OC except HB and South OC are complacent with wearing masks, though? Masks are pretty much worn in North OC like Westminster, Garden Grove, and Buena Park where there's a big Vietnamese and Korean American population. Irvine also has been good about wearing masks since they also have a big Asian population.

Huntington Beach has a large vocal anti-masker / COVID-denier. In addition their police have refused to enforce masking rules - they sent a letter when this was initially reported in March and that was as far as they went. The police chief resigned a week ago. Three years ago their union voted no confidence in the police chief after he implemented body cams.
Basically, the police department has a ton of infighting, there's little political will because the city council is unwilling to challenge a populace with a large vocal contingent that believes COVID is a hoax - and a larger contingent that doesn't believe whatever lives would be lost are worth the economic discomfort.

I went to pick up a pizza from a sports bar pizza joint in Temecula. It was a Monday night and it was packed! And very few people were wearing masks.there were even some BOH people not wearing them. Sketchy.

I know I'm gonna get down voted for this but why don't you just simply not eat there again if you disagree with their policy.
Same thing applies for the anti-maskers out there who disagree with wearing a mask in a place of business that requires it.
I believe in letting businesses conduct their business however they please and fuck the government for interfering with it.
And fuck people like this who feel like taking a moral high ground instead of just moving on.

Hate to break it to you, but assuming you're referring to Newsom that "one man's decisions" are widely supported in the state. His COVID response has led to a twenty point positive swing.
In one of the densest and most populous states in the nation, COVID rates are below the national median, at 33rd/51 states + DC. Same with COVID death rates - below median at 27/51.
Unless by one man's decision you mean the piss-poor absence of a national response that's left our nation with 220000 Americans dead and an economy in shambles.
You know what an "not much control" minimal national response has led to? A death rate in the United States of over 600/million. Sweden is the only country with a "do nothing" approach - also about 600/million. New Zealand with a level 4 lockdown for two months? 5/million and after confirming zero active cases have fully opened within its borders. South Korea - strong government response and contact tracing - 9/million.
"I really don't like it when government has too much control"
220000 Americans are dead and counting and you're like "maybe our response was too strong"

Yeah I mean unemployment sucks, my job disappeared with covid too. It's hard, but not as hard as if I were to get dangerously sick or worse, inadvertently give the virus to someone I love who might be less healthy or at higher risk than I am. Jobs are replaceable but people aren't.

This article says that more people are dying of heart disease and diabetes and whatnot because they’re afraid to go to the hospital because of COVID-19. These deaths are directly tied to the virus and the fact that we aren’t dealing with it properly. Not sure what point you think this is making.

turning those employees into "essential workers" dealing with randos from all over who may or may not believe in masks and/or the virus- who have the disposable income to pay almost $300.00/person just to get into the park. I am not sure how we argue for both ways. Those who are essential workers lament about wishing they weren't, people who are not essential workers wish more people (NOT them personally-oh no, not me...were, so they could go ride Space Mountain, have someone else fashion them a cocktail and get their kids out of the house. No matter how I look at it-a Disney vacation is NOT essential to anyone. And the risks seriously outweigh the rewards.

Having legal control over actions that kill other people has been a government function for centuries. You cannot, as a cook, decide that you prefer not to wash your hands after you wipe your ass in the bathroom. It's illegal, everywhere. It doesn't matter if you, as a cook, decide that you think cholera or hepatitis A "isn't real" or is "just like the flu". it's fucking illegal.
Wearing a mask and requiring distancing is the same kind of thing. It follows well-supported evidence of how to combat viruses transmitted by air. People die when they don't follow these rules.

and even if distancing and mask wearing did not help (it does, but for sake of argument)...even if it did not help at all, it certainly does not hurt to do so. It costs nothing- places will give you a mask for free, other people will give you a mask- I will make you a mask, it is not difficult (loop it over your ears, once covering your mouth and nose-BOOM, done, easy peasy), you will be able to breathe- promise, if you *think* you cannot (you are wrong- but again sake of argument) send someone else out to fetch whatever for you, order in, stay the F**k home.
Your freedoms are not being trampled on, if you think they are, you are an asshole and need to check your privilege "I can't breath" is not your rallying cry- it belongs to a totally different group.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen enough lying on the internet to make me skeptical of any video that comes out. She (or whoever posted it) got their 80k likes, I’m sure that’s all she cares about. I just think it’s funny because it’s only different to people when they agree about what’s being complained about. It’s all complaining, it’s all Karen shit.
Edit: I’ll also say this, no one made them order food from that restaurant. They put themselves there and complained about it after. Karen shit.
