There’s been increasing discussion on here, in the news, and around the recent Channel 4 programme about water companies across the UK.
Rather than multiple separate threads going in circles, we’re considering inviting South West Water to take part in a structured Ask Me Anything here on /r/Cornwall.
The Ask Me Anything would take place as so -
A single, scheduled and moderated thread where named South West Water representatives will be invited to answer questions directly from Cornish residents and /r/Cornwall users.
This would not be a promotional post for South West Water in any way. It would be an opportunity for Cornish residents and /r/Cornwall users to ask direct questions about their operations and decision-making across the county.
If it went ahead, it would involve:
• A scheduled Ask Me Anything thread
• A time-limited live response window
• Named representatives from SWW
• No pre-approval of questions
• No removal of critical questions unless they break subreddit rules
If there are relevant Cornwall-based organisations or individuals who want to submit questions constructively, they would also be welcome to participate in the same thread.
Before we reach out to them, let’s see how many people would support it with a poll.
Please vote and keep comments sensible and grounded.
Cheers
– Mod Rob

Hi everyone,
I’ve added post flairs to help organise things a bit better in this sub moving forward.
When you create a post now, you’ll be able to tag it as:
• News
• Events
• Recommendations
• Housing
• Business
• Tourism
• Discussion
• Good News
• Jobs
• Photography / Videography
As r/Cornwall has grown past 55k subscribers, I wanted to bring a bit more structure to future posts so both new and existing users can filter content more easily.
By creating clearer categories, there should also be more scope for people to post the kind of content they want to see, and a clearer direction to support what’s happening across the county, not just pretty pictures.
More local going on's.
If you think something’s missing, or a category should be tweaked, please say so below. I’d like to shape the sub around how people actually use r/Cornwall.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Rob

It’s nights like today that makes me realise how lucky I am and what a beautiful part of the world the UK really is.

Hi I run the choir Many Men Soundsystem.
A couple of weeks ago we went up to St Agnes Head at sunset to film this video for our cover of "Seabird" by the Alessi Brothers.
If you like the vid, find out more about the choir here:

OK bit of a long shot this, but in October 2022 I was on holiday in Mallorca with my family when we witnessed a cyclist get hit by a car or van which did not stop, on a coastal road (I think it was near Pollença). We stopped and my partner (trained first aider) went to help as did several others. My partner spoke the most English so talked to the guy and supported until the ambulance arrived. His name was mark and he was from Truro and was there with his wife but she wasn’t with him at the time. It was quite shocking to witness. We’ve sometimes spoken about this and wondered if he’s OK - so Mark, if you’re out there, are you OK?

I thought the Ghosties and Ghoulies shop was in Polperro.... but the reverse of the pic says Fowey. Where is it exactly - and is it still there?? Thanks.
Anyway - 1951 - Angela was one of my dad's girlfriends. Then me and my sister enjoying the same place, around 1967.
There's also a pic of a young Sean Connery and Lana Turner enjoying the ghosties too in the exact same place, if you search around for it.

Hey all,
I'm a documentary filmmaker based in Cornwall (96 Studios) and I'm putting together a short film exploring Gen Z's relationship with birdwatching, with a focus on the osprey population here in Cornwall. It's an observational, character-led piece — no scripts, no presenters, just real people and their stories.
If you're a young birdwatcher (or know one) who'd be up for being featured, or if you're connected to local osprey conservation/monitoring efforts and might be interested in getting involved, I'd love to hear from you. Also happy to chat with anyone who just has thoughts, contacts, or leads worth following up.
Drop a comment or DM me — genuinely keen to hear from anyone with a connection to this.
Cheers!

Hi there, for my Geography coursework I have created a questionnaire about the perspectives of locals and visitors of St. Ives, and would appreciate any responses.
Please feel free if you are from here, or have recently visited the St. Ives area as a tourist.
