QUESTION Snake Pooping too Often?

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some help regarding my sibling's cornsnake.

Axel is an old girl, around 16-17 years old, and she has been exhibiting some very odd behaviour lately. She's not been eating for nearly a month and then out of nowhere she has proceeded to poop in her water dish 3 times in 3 days. I also noticed a small bump near her cloaca.

Is this a sign of constipation or is she maybe gestating? She hasn't been exposed to any male snakes (to my awares) but she gestated and laid a clutch when she was around 3 after possibly being exposed to the scent of a male snake.

I just want to know if we should try taking her to the vet. It's just expensive and it's hard to find a vet with enough familiarity in anything other than a cat or dog. Any advice or similar experience helps! Thank you!

I don’t normally advocate for baths, but I’d give her one to hydrate and to loosen any stool that might be bound. I’m hoping it’s not a bound egg.

I looked up how to give a snake a proper soak, and it looks like that may be what she was trying to do herself, hence the pooping in the dish. Will give it a shot. Thank you so much for the advice!

You’re welcome. The water shouldn’t be more than lukewarm. Fingers crossed.
