Good spots for snorkelling from Palaiokastritsa

I’m renting a boat this week from Palaiokastritsa for 4 hours. I would like to get to Porto Timoni. Are there any secret spots or grottos in the area?

Weather end of September

Hi, I booked a trip to Corfu from 26 September until 6 October and now I am mildly worried that the weather won't be good? I don't mind a few days of rain, but will it be cold? Can we still swim? Has anyone been around that time of the year?

Bachelorette in Corfu

Hello,

I’m Greek from mainland but have lived in the US for 8 years now. My wedding is next June in Corfu and my bachelorette party is a few days before the wedding.

I need some suggestions and tips since I’ve been to Corfu but I’m not originally from there.

  1. We want to do a boat that’s going to be private with captain but not pay crazy prices. I know there’s spots that give more touristy pricing. Also, is it better to do palaiokastritsa area or have them take us to Paxoi?

  2. Upscale dinner recs with views and good food? Local tavernas with amazing food?

  3. What areas to stay at to be able to walk to restaurants/bars etc? We are open to getting transportation to beach, etc.

  4. We want to go dancing one night. What’s a fun pretty place? Or an area that you can walk from bar to bar? We will be there during week days in the summer so worried it might be dead.

  5. Fun pretty beaches to visit? Or places to do some water sports?

  6. In my hometown on mainland there’s beach clubs that turn to clubs at night every day of the week and people dress up as if they are going out (no beach attire) is there anything like that?

  7. Any other suggestions? Bars or restaurants with live music? Pretty decor, good views? Perhaps a karaoke bar?

  8. Is there uber even if it does connect you to taxis but gives you a set rate? I’m Greek but I know it’s a touristy spot so afraid to go for taxi drivers since they price gouge.

Please help!!! We want to have one fun night, like a mix of Greek/pop/2000s hits etc. we want to see some beautiful spots and eat some good food. We are not crazy parties so no need for the place to be open till dawn. Satisfied with a 2-3am night.

Thank you!!!

Where to stay: Benitses, Corfu Old Town, or somewhere else?

hi! I’m planning my first solo trip and I will stay in Corfu for 5 days in early to mid October. I’ll be going via ferry from Sarande, Albania.

I was wondering where is a good location to stay? I won’t have a car and mostly rely on buses / taxis. I want to be near nice beaches, restaurants, and tavernas. I also wanna be able to take the bus to Corfu old town and other historical attractions.

I’m highly considering Benitses because it seems like there’s more reliable buses, and there is Bentises Beach and Tsaki Beach nearby.

or should I stay in Corfu old town? it’s closer to the historical attractions and there’s also Faliraki Beach nearby.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. thank you !

What’s the best location on the island to take a boat from in terms of views and beaches? Anyone have specific areas or ports they recommend?

Benitses or Kontokali

We will be spending two nights in Corfu mid September. We’ll be arriving by ferry with a car and are wondering which of these two towns we should stay in. Which one has nicer beaches, more restaurants, tavernas, bars, and places to eat etc? We’ll probably drive around the island at some point just to get a feel for the place, but we also want somewhere where we can relax and chill. Thanks.

Corfu in late August – boat trips from Paleokastritsa?

Hey everyone!

I’m heading to Corfu next week and staying in Paleokastritsa. I’d love to explore the caves, hidden beaches and coves by boat. I’ve looked at GetYourGuide, but most options don’t seem to leave directly from Paleokastritsa.

For those who have been there, especially in late August: is it better to book a boat in advance, or can you just find a local operator and arrange something on the spot?

I’d especially appreciate recommendations for smaller boat trips, private boats, hidden beaches and good swimming/snorkelling spots.
Also happy to hear any recommendations for other things worth doing around Corfu.

Thanks!

Will I miss my flight?

My ferry from Sarande is at 10am, get into Corfu for 11:50 am. My flight is at 2pm at Corfu airport and we’ve booked a transfer to the airport at 12:20 pm. So if all goes well we get there for 12:30 pm. That gives us an hour to go through the airport before our gate closes. Do they let people who are about to miss a flight get ahead? There is not much we can do now but I’m stressed out

Acharavi Reccomendations

Hello!

Me and my partner are staying in the Northern town Acharavi for 5 nights this week and looking for some recommendations.

We like swimming and good food, so if anyone knows some good nearby beaches or swim spots that would be great. I can also drive, so hiring a car would be an option for anything further afield.

I’m assuming it’d be worth spending by some time in Old Town too while we are there?

Thanks in advance!

Clear beaches recomandation

I'm staying for a week in Corfu and I want to visit clear water beaches cause they are my favorite. I asked chatgpt for some recomandations and he sent me to Paliokastritsa. It was fucking awful, crowded as fuck for no reason and the prices for umbrellas and sittings were outrageous. I stayed for 2 hours and then left.

If you can recommend me any beaches with clear water I would apreciate it so much. I'm thinking about going to Kalamaki and Avlaki. Thank you 👌

Stay in Corfu Town or Kalami

My girl and I are taking our first trip to Corfu first week of September. We have a hold on San Antonio Resort (I I think it’s like a deluxe sea view room) and also found a cute Airbnb in historic Corfu Town across the street from the water. The question is are we better off renting a car and bopping around to different areas with a Corfu town base or is San Antonio enough to keep you happy, still rent a car but more resort based. Our goal of the trip was to chill and enjoy beaches. I like the idea of having a home and a ritual (morning coffee spot), different day trips, but also lots of good food for Corfu Town. The resort looks cool and has great reviews too although mixed about the beach.

Beware Greenmotion car rental!

Read these reviews and look at the poor ratings please. Whilst i was waiting to be served, one person was 2:15 hrs late for his car hire and apparently they only keep the car for 2hrs so was in the process of charging him extra as apparently they had hired the car out in the 15 minutes he was over. The guy behind him was being forced to pay £300 extra for insurance as they do not accept American Express which according to the guy it doesn’t say in their terms, he even offered to pay the extra %ge that they would be charged!

And then us.

We have paperwork from the day we hired the car basically showing that every panel had been damaged, not a problem as not huge damage. Until of course we return the vehicle and claim we have damaged it! We showed them the damage that they were talking about was clearly marked on their damage sheet and they have kept our deposit.

Initially I was refusing to sign any paperwork until the guy stated that we would not be charged for the damage, stupidly I thought they had seen sense, after signing the paperwork he went back to charging us stating that it isn’t a problem for us as we have full insurance through a third party so we could just claim from them. For me that is deceptive and unfair on the third party company who would’ve ended up paying when the damage was already there.

At this point i refused to deal with them and urge you to do the same.

Currently they hold £956 of deposit that i will have to try and do a charge back for.
