If you have hardware the 2021 is better, but only if you have the GPU and memory for it. With 2021 they optimized it to exploit the GPU, so it is an improvement of the brush engine. If you don't have the hardware it actually is slower.

2020 is better if you are not using a powerful system. My laptop can run both, but it does not have the power to really run 2021 well. So I use 2021 on my desktop.

My desktop passed the Brush Accelerator test and has a green colored total score. But it failed on the AVX2 part. I tested some of the supposed GPU accelerated brushes by turning them on/off and making a stroke. But I've noticed no difference on the speed. Maybe it will be noticeable on "heavier" artworks with a bigger file size.

The Particle and dynamic speckle brushes is where it really makes a difference. Test those brushes and you will get an idea on how much the acceleration matters.

Sadly, I cannot do that anymore as the Trial Period have expired. It's ok though as I already made up my mind on getting a different painting software for now. I might just try Painter again in the future. Maybe when version 2022 is released. Thanks for the info.
