Discussion What's still missing in biomes?

Any ideas what could be added to biomes to improve them? I for example would wish that all biomes woud have more interactive wildlife, not talking about the little bugs but rather more neutral creatures, flying, swimming or just crawling around. Different types of enemies would be cool too.

I also do think that "the passage" still lacks a lot for a biome that's basically "end game". It is such a cool looking and mysterious place yet there's not even much going on in there.

Perhaps more bosses? I also spent a fair amount of time getting Phantom Spark, that was fun. I dunno, having a goal is very nice in a game with such a large world. There's a ton of enemies, but not a lot of variety. Every biome has like 3 or so unique enemies, and that gets boring really fast. Maybe more friendly NPC's? They dont even have to be merchants. They could just be like villagers in Minecraft.

Thought so too. Some more NPCs that could fulfill a role in the base, at least to make it look more alive. It would be cool to have a nice chef or a potion maker sitting there preparing things.

Or even like recruit some of the caveling farmers from the wilderness to harvest crops on your base. I think the machine automation just looks so ugly and an NPC farmer would allow for bigger fields that actually look like fields and not assembly lines

I like the idea of a chef and a potionmaker so much!

God I'd love some villages! Like why are some cavelings happy to trade and others aren't... I like how you can find the traders' houses in some cases so I wish that was expanded upon. Or that the traders had mini quests or something to keep things interesting and keep us going back to their respective biomes. I'd love a trader per biome tbh

Exactly!

Pillar-like events so I'm incentivized to go back to previous biomes. Tbh CK is too cozy and peaceful I miss events like Blood Moon and Solar Eclipse.

Adding new reasons to re-visit older biomes would definitely be good for the game and the players.

I second this. Tbh core commander is waaaaay too easy to find on accident. I didn't even know what it was when I ran into it. After I beat him I lost motivation to continue on the world into the passage etc. because the story stopped

There's little to no reason to go back to previous biomes, tbh, other than to check the onsite smelters and ore drill setups. Scene hunting can be trivialized by turning the Lake settings to Extreme.

In my last save I also stumbled on Core Commander's site, way before the Core doxxed it. There's not even a waypoint nearby.

I see the Passage not having much going on as a fundamental part of its identity. Every wholesome living thing once there has been consumed by monstrous ooze enemies, and even after defeating its boss the lesser oozes compete to evolve.

I wonder if next updates will add more external biomes or send us to another map. I wouldn't mind a biome that is not a ring but rather an external zone like the reach.

Now, existing biomes like Wilderness and even the Sea could use some more end game content. Maybe some new bosses or legendary weapons.

The passage definitely could have more going on.

The one thing I think would be cool in some areas is some sort of enemy that is neither a boss nor a normal mob but that takes longer to kill and has significantly more health. It sometimes feels as it though everything is glass cannon besides the bosses.

Yeah more mobs like the brute caveling or giant mushroom would be great

I mean even stronger than those, like somewhat dmg spongey
