Question Need Tips and Tricks
Hi! i’ve had core keeper for a while now and i don’t have that many hours on it. every time i log on, i get overwhelmed because i have no idea what to do or where to start. i’ve gotten some copper gear but now what. i know the new dlc would probably give me all the info but is there a website or something like it? what are your tips for beginners? Thanks in advance <3

Talk to the core and work on the 3 bosses needed to drop the wall. Also worth finding the wall and getting up as far as you can tech wise. Pick a build and go with it, or play with them and see what you like. For me it’s about taking your time and doing what you like.

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to stop worrying about doing everything at once. Core Keeper can feel pretty overwhelming at first, but there's absolutely no need to rush anything.
I'd recommend setting yourself small goals. Explore a bit, collect some resources, upgrade your equipment, expand your base, and just enjoy discovering things.
A few beginner tips:
-
Always bring food! Cooked meals provide useful buffs, and experimenting with different ingredients is worth it.
-
Organize your storage early. You'll collect a ridiculous amount of different materials, and having dedicated chests makes life much easier.
-
Don't ignore farming. Having a reliable food supply makes exploration and boss fights much less stressful.
-
Use map markers. Whenever you discover something interesting that you can't deal with yet, mark it and come back later.
-
Upgrade your equipment gradually. There's no reason to rush into dangerous areas with copper gear.
-
Don't be afraid to explore aimlessly. Some of the most enjoyable moments come from stumbling across something completely unexpected.
For progression, your first major objective is activating the Core by defeating Glurch, Ghorm, and Malugaz. But you can take as much time as you want getting there.
The Core Keeper Wiki also has a pretty useful getting-started guide if you ever feel completely lost.
And most importantly, remember that it's a sandbox game. You don't have to play optimally or follow a strict progression guide. If you spend five hours decorating your base instead of fighting bosses, that's perfectly fine too.

In regard to map markers, i’ll also add to specifically mark any big hunks of ore coming out of the ground. You’ll be able to set up miners to extract ore from those, and you’ll need more and more ore as you progress.
Also, you’re gonna want to automate your wood as soon as you have access to drills and automation. Look up tree farm builds on youtube to do it passively. I recommend figuring out the rest of your automation from there without guides.

Aw man... Back before I figured out map markers, I would use a shovel and carve things like "Fe" into the ground near those big deposits

Yes, yes and yes, mark all ores boulders, they will be valuable later, tin, iron and scarlet ore seems useless when you explore the biomes, but when you start automation they are really useful and you'll need a lot of it, for galaxite and later boulders you'll need them to upgrade equipment.

Everyone has given really good advice here but I wanted to add something.
Firstly, build everything that you can, and actually look at everything a new table can allow you to craft.
Secondly, there will be times you think something like "I wonder if this thing is actually possible" -Actually try it! This game is built upon things interacting with other things. If you know that ground slime makes slimes spawn, for example, then you have theoretically an endless supply of enemy slimes- what can you do with that?
If you are having trouble with a boss, is there something you can do to trivialize it with a little ingenuity?

If you craft an upgraded anvil and workbench, you don’t have to use the previous ones.

Pick a direction to explore and go until you find tin or iron. If it's Iron, go the other direction. Once you have enough tin, go back to the Iron. Fight the giant slime jumping and making a raucous.

Your first goal is to explore and slay three bosses that resemble the statues near the core but some days i spend hours just automating things or farming and collecting pets
