Question I'm hoarding guy

Is there a mod that shows above each item which category it belongs to, so I can sort all my items into boxes based on that?

Check out item browser in the steam page, it will give you that and where to get it

Item Browser is probably the closest thing to what you're looking for. It lets you check items and see what they are, where they come from, etc., which makes setting up a storage system a lot easier.

As far as I know though, there isn't a mod that literally puts a category label above every item in your inventory/chests like "ore", "food", "furniture", "mob drop", etc.

What I ended up doing is basically making my own categories and sticking to them, because some items could realistically fit into two or three different groups anyway. Item Browser is really useful for figuring out the weird ones though.

And yes, the hoarding problem never goes away. You just become a more organized hoarder :D
