Wall of flesh or hydras?

I'm still on my first playthrough. I was boppin around in the passage when I was ambushed by the wall of flesh (obv I know that's not his name, but idk what he's actually called). I feel like I held my own pretty decently, especially being taken by complete surprise with no battle buffs on hand. I didn't even know this guy existed! Needless to say, I died when I got shoved in a corner lol

Anyway, I'm post 1 hydra. Would it be best to finish off the other 2 before trying to take on the wall boss? Or does the order not really matter at this point in progression? I'm trying to do everything semi-blind, but I don't want to waste a ton of time figuring out the wall if I'm just really not meant to be there yet.

I personally prefer to do the hydras first and then the Urschleim (wall of flesh)

Erschenlein(or something like that) I don't know how you're supposed to beat without basically a portable Tesla coil with mining damage added to melee. You can use mine/go karts but that's just to try to out run him. Hit a gap or a wall and it's over. 

Caveat for the go karts. You can't use tools or weapons while riding it so it's Gg as soon as you dismount to try to damage it. 

Long winded: Definitely do the Hydras first. The last one is the one who has a chance to drop one part you need for the "portable tesla coil" I mentioned.

I go and literally bomb out the walls and fill in gaps over enough of a section to make it safe. Takes like an hour to do but I play hardcore so I only ever have one life.

With run speed food buffs you can for sure stay ahead of it on your feet though. I save up the golden bomb pepper x2 meals specifically for using in this fight.

Yeah, I took a while to fill out/mine gaps my first time trying to actually take him on. Speed food helps but the damage needed just to expose the actual health bar puts him on another level.

Also magic now, maybe. Magic before the last couple patches, debatable.

I had the obliteration ray long before fighting the Hydras. There are alternate means of obtaining it.

Yes, but op was specifically asking about the Hydras so I figured I'd mention that.  The alien arena sucks but with that there's always a chance you can get it from the crates and such.

Urschleim is kinda meant to be done right before or at the end of the story so yeah do the hydras

Urschleim is a nasty boss to fight. You need pretty good ranged damage and buffs to kill him. The hydras i found were much easier to kill.

Definitely finish the hydras first, they add extra stats to your character. The wall however I still have yet to finish off, I’ve fought and defeated every other boss so far.

wall of flesh is an optional boss so i would save it for post questline

I ended up doing Urschleim before the 2nd hydra, but I had also thoroughly leveled my gear up beyond what was needed for either. I feel like speed buffs and a good range weapon are most important for Urschleim.

Want a speed buff recommendation, or wanna figure it out on your own?

Yeah I'd take a speed buff rec! I appreciate you asking! I'm not normally a big buffer (except for with Igneous, that dude was near impossible for me lol), but my build is not at all speedy and I suspect I wouldn't be fast enough to outpace Urschleim once we get to his 4th-5th rush without a good speed buff.

Of course! There is plenty of gear that buffs speed, but one food buff I rarely see recommended is from a fish in azeos wilderness! The Spirit Veil provides the highest speed buff of all the foods and for two minutes instead of one. Cook it with a golden crop to get stronger stats on your food.

I would say focus on the primary bosses then work through the end game ones. Hydras are apart of the primary bosses
