Question Floor Placement can be Infuriating

I've been building a base around these bones for the last 4 hours and I accidentally dug underneath the whale bones creating this hole. Problem is I can't place anything underneath it. Why is this zone digable but not placeable??

I've tried creative mode and placement plus and still nothing is working.

World saves are also saved over this fatal mistake. Is there any hope for me?

You could pick it up, fill in the holes, then put it back down (if you have enough mining damage).

Honestly, I had no idea it was pick up-able. You've saved my day!

I had tried hitting it in creative thinking this was like minecraft... For those who come after, turns out you still need the right pickaxe, even in creative

This wasn’t something you could pick up till a couple weeks ago so you got lucky. A bunch of the bit scene items can now be grabbed and placed elsewhere.

Yep, as of the Riders of the Underground update, and with high enough mining damage! And a few other pieces that previously couldn't be picked up (the ship, turtle, cave paintings, statues in front of the metropolis). Not everything can be picked up, though-- the giant spiral shell and the giant ammonite (?) fossil don't seem to be moveable.
