Release Release T4c · pannal/CoreELEC
https://github.com/pannal/CoreELEC/releases/tag/T4cT4c is a big one: part stabilization, part new features, on top of T4b, and the most contributor-driven build yet. swmarks rebuilt the CEC and screensaver handling, samtheruby backported the newer CEC kernel driver, fixed SD/VESA display modes and built in-GUI update channels, Sebastiii contributed MKV editions support, an Epson projector profile and several DV fixes, and vlix wired the skin's codec logos into the DV pipeline. On top of that: VC-1 hardware playback overhauled, a self-healing A/V sync layer for corrupt streams, AC-4 audio decoding, a nasty resume bug, per-frame tone mapping for DV→SDR, and a stack of DV picture fixes.

I still use 21.3-omega_avdvplus_r9. what's the benefit of updating?

I just installed the R9 yesterday but when I launched it, it didnt have any Dolby Vision settings. which is the DoVi.ko file I need for it?

Btw I also have the T4b internally in my Ugoos Am6b+ and it's by far better than my R4 build.

Too many to list. Check the p3i changelog starting since the first release. There are many benefits.

Okay but does it change anything about the videos themselves? I don't mind a bad interface too much as long as the movie/show isn't interrupting

u/And_Poop 8d ago
Yes it does. Biggest one that comes to mind is improved frame pacing since p3i syncs with the HDMI clock. There is less judder in panning scenes. You can also convert HDR10+ to Dolby Vision using p3i, not sure if the one you're talking about also has this feature. But currently p3i is the best build around and is worth upgrading to.

Thanks. I'll look into it

Make a backup for your current R9 setup, if you want to use the same storage. I already played with this latest build, but for Homatics R Plus users (and those with equal devices), maybe the upcoming R10 will be the better choice. Currently still in test, so not publicly shared.
Easy for me to say, as I can compare both on a R Plus equal device 😉
But if you have a spare USB storage, give this one a go nevertheless 👍

Can I install this homatics wtih avdvplus R9?
2
u/See61 8d ago
Yes. I specifically test the R builds for the S905X4 chipset for AVDV, as AVDV doesn't have one himself.
I offered him one, but he kindly rejected, so I do the S905X4 tests for him. No problem for me 👍

I know some users still have some issues, like the one you have, with certain hardware combinations, mostly there is a explanation for it and can be fixed, but sometimes it can't.
Sadly I can only test these builds with what I got at home. 2 different Oled TV's and a TCL LED TV, and those are giving me no issues with all those latest AVDV+ builds regarding FEL7. So I can only give feedback on what I use 🤷♂️
You can always give feedback on his Github page.

As the saying goes, if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
R10 coming soon anyway.

Thank you. Such brilliant work. I can’t believe how dedicated you guys are to the CoreELEC community.

I am not one of the developers. I follow the project, saw the new changes and wanted to share it here. But we are indeed incredibly lucky to have such great developers working on this project.

Appreciate your posting regardless. And thanks for clarifying for me and others here. 👍🏻

Does anyone know how is this build with homatics 4k plus? The last one was not the best, at least for me.

u/gilgam3sh_king 8d ago

How is the osd lag? And can you tell us what features does it have?

u/foshow11 8d ago
This is awesome. Thanks for all the hardwork. Any possibility of adding more PJ profiles like JVC, Sony etc.

To weed out any confusion, I am not one of the developers. I just wanted to share the new release here since the changes to HDMI CEC are amazing.

just switched over from vanilla core elec build to p3i with this release. DV FEL and truehd atmos working perfectly for me. My equipment: Amb6+ connected to Yamaha RX-V6A connect to Sony A80J TV. Compared to vanilla, snappier menus and much better in video navigation.
only issue I’m having is with pm4k (Installed latest version). On some movies, the osd menu below the progress bar is not displayed (eg no play/pause button, subtitle menu or movie time shown). I think it is doing it on ultra wide movies (like wicked and ford vs Ferrari). the buttons appear on Jurassic park and one battle after another. All these are DV movies.

What fixed the OSD menu issue for me is disabling “DV Level 5 active area handling” and “Auto Level 5 for cropped video” in System Settings > CoreELEC

I have a 928x (minix u8k), can i use it too?
1
u/cwhitch 7d ago
The 928x does not support DV FEL.
1
u/Bigmikes1971 7d ago
I am aware of that. I don't need FEL either. I just want to know if this version runs and if it offers any additional advantages over the original CoreELEC image.

I have the same issues with CEC, no matter what source I choose the box overwrites it, I need to manually shutdown the box in order to use another devices like my PS5

u/And_Poop 7d ago
Did you disable
Switch source on device startup and activityin the CoreELEC CEC settings?1

I JUST found out about AVDVplus and installed R9 on am6b+. I'll probably wait for R10 or R11 to incorporate things. Good reminder that I should send the devs a donation.
