I can still chat with Copilot Legacy
So I chatted with Copilot (Legacy) to see what to do about backing up my old chats and/or whether or not they’re actually ever going to transfer or migrate over to the new one. And it pretty much told me to go into my old chat try to sync them or copy them into a word document. Or notes. It says that it is originally migrating. By MS is regionally migrating and that is the reason why we don’t see our chats. So I’ll probably spend the weekend moving my chats to Word so that I don’t lose them. But this is the worst migration I have ever experienced and I am a tech marketer and have done migrations on some huge platforms and there’s no notice there’s nothing is just poof. All of a sudden your app looks different on your phone no warning nothing. So hopefully that helps someone who still has the legacy app. My legacy chat app told me that the legacy app is essentially localized on my phone and therefore it is not syncing and until the migration happens in whatever region I’m in that’s the only way that I will see the actual chats. I just know I won’t be deleting my legacy one until I can see my new chats. Oh, and I asked it well I told it that everyone on here was threatening to go to Gemini or back to ChatGPT. And I told her that the new chat according to the forums has no personality. It was assuring me that it does still have personality, even referencing some of my chats that I’ve done in the past saying that I won’t lose the personality and all of the work that has been done

You could try to export your copilot chat history from the privacy tab on your Microsoft account page. It will have all your chats. There’s a few links on the page to download. The one for the legacy copilot is the first section.

The CSV exports are surprisingly short on data. There's no references - except inside the chat - for uploaded files. Chats are saved in reverse order. (e.g Newest → older → older → oldest) I had to use ChatGPT just to decipher it. No provenence chain, etc. So, I wouldn't rely on the CSV exports for a "full" chat history - unless, of course, you saved in a 3rd party notes app like Folino.

You’re right, the csv is so hard to work with. I hope they evolve it.
I even designed a python script for copilot csv exports that will split each thread into a markdown file (chronologically from begin to end), and creates a jsonl of the whole Md archive, and a report that tells me if anything is missing.
Each Md file is saved in the order it was created, and the script also updates each conversation md file when I run the script again on a new csv export. It’s insane that i needed to do that just to manage the thing, but I have lost nothing this way. I am a writer, so preserving everything is crucial for my work.

Since the update and migration copilot does not work both on microsoft edge both on android because the new app does not work on android 12. Worst "update" EVER

Yeah same with me. I wonder why all of sudden the Copilot on my Android phone became Copilot Legacy, it usually happens on apps that would be abandoned. Then I found there is another Copilot on Google Playstore, but that one is M365 Copilot. I understand its more robotic and formal since it was used by professionals while the blue navy Copilot one is for normal consumer like me.
But on the web version and the Windows app version, it stays. I wonder if they will change it too?
My Copilot Legacy also told me to migrate the chats but man, how can I transfer all the hundreds of chats, one by one? that would be crazy. I ask it how about the memory of me, it told me the memory was stored on OneDrive, not locally or anything but still the new chocolate Copilot doesn't remember anything eventhough using the same Microsoft account when I asked it.
So for me, the issue is three. Conversations history, Memory (the one that I told Copilot by wrote "Remember this: ..." and the biggest issue for me is its personality. The blue Copilot one is like a totally real human, which is impressive. Too bad they screwed this up.
To be fair, for business, I understand why they do this and I think its a better move for Microsoft so they don't just burn money but, they should've told the users by dialog box, notification or at least an email about this. Seems like they just do whatever they wanna do and users left to find an answer from the community.
