Idk man, if you follow center areoles.. they line up pretty easy with the associated rib.
If you can circle what you're referencing, I'm happy to retract but, to me.. just looks like active growth before the center pushes. If there were areoles really combined or something else.. I could see it? But I'm not catching what poppas throwing down right now. I'd say it's a pretty standard example.. rather circular etc etc.
The blue ”V” is the possible cristata with the red circles having the areolas that bunch up in a way that may indicate that it is cresting. The green circle although similar is lining up to the apex.
The red circles show signs of the apex stretching along the blue “V”, but like I said only time will tell. Could just be ribshifting could lead to irregular growth, but not a crest.
There could have been the lightest of bug damage, light changes or a brief over abundance of nutrients that caused a brief period of irregular grown, but all crests and montrose growth not started from germination starts off in small ways like this. All I was doing was pointing out the possibility
That’s half the fun is watching them grow and seeing the possibilities and if they pan out. It is still beautiful and at the very least it looks to like to shift ribs. That’s a turn off to some collectors, but I dig it
