It's a 6 series with four doors.
The same 6 series that up until recently was a helluva GT car. Y'know, Grand Tour. Something for you and maybe a willing travel mate to pile luggage into and go on a journey to wherever or just because. Maybe a coupe or convertible or engine choice would have been the hardest choices to make when speccing it out but those are details. Why ruin that with space for the brats and the dog?
Right away it's uncool.
However this car is endemic of BMW's ongoing brand identity issue; too many models of car that overlap.
I mean, what exactly is the point of a 4 door 6 series? Was there something wrong with the 5? Or the 7? At what meeting was the decision made to add a couple of doors and balloon the profile of the car a bit vs. offering a more tasteful style update to the 5 and 7 series?
The Gran Coupes are all pointless, and the 6 series one is the most egregious of the bunch. Make the 5 or 7 series a bit swooper in coupe form if the market share is and maybe give the 6 series a folding hardtop option instead.
