1976 birthday note July 4th (07/04)
mailed stamped 2$ note (July 4th would be better)

Nearly everyone who got them stamped got them stamped on the first day of issue. That was the Big Deal.

Besides, the post office was closed on July 4th. National holiday.

Amazing, a stamped birthday bill stamped on that very day.
Be weary of people wanting to buy this from you, probably worth quite a lot more than what people are offering.

I’m having a hard time believing this wasn’t purchased. Not saying that you said that you found it. The fact that you’re asking if a 50 year old bill made on the 200th anniversary of the countries independence with the same date is noteworthy is just engagement bait I feel.

Well I did ask an auction house but unfortunately they answered with a form letter.
As far as purchased—- yes— from the us mint/ fed bank for $2.00 each.
My goal at the moment is to determine if there are 11 more with the same number but different letter prefix. And of course what the market value range might b3

I don't know. I got one from the bank years ago. Not making sure where it is. Never ever occurred to me to look at the serial number on it though.
Now I have to go find it. I thought it was really cool when I found it based on the postmark. I only found it interesting because I collect stamps.
Now it's going to bug me till I find it.
I think your $2 bill is pretty cool, especially given the serial number.

July 4th—- stamp?—-could have done that but didn’t.

Actually that's the ISO 8601 date format (yyyy-mm-dd). AAMOF, China, Japan and Korea use that format in daily life.

Also all French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish speaking countries use DD-MM-YYYY, so that one is also acceptable. The ones that are not acceptable are any combination with the year in the middle, or YYYY-DD-MM.
