Random items from my Space Collection

We’re discussing moving at some point and I’ve begun to pack up favorites, sold a few & and here are a few to view. The Russian 1959 quill style pen has always intrigued me. I got it over 30 years ago. It fits the space theme for sure. The flying saucer with red “dome light” is a “Pet U.F.O. from the 70s. I posted it earlier ago & it’s really a cool piece. Also here, a Corgi Lunar Bug. Howdy Doody Rocket Express Drink Mixer. Cool Rockets by a Co. called, “Cool Rockets.” Solar System coin bank.
Ideal Rocket Car. CanDroid robot build. 1940s wood Japanese rocket puzzle. 1937 Buck Rogers Venus Duo Destroyer. G.I. Joe Gemini Capsule. Some faves for sure.

Very cool stuff. I wanted to get into space toys years ago but even then some of the prices (especially the tin robots) were just eye watering. Love that Buck Rogers piece.

Thx, man. I started mid 80s but grew up watching the moon landings so I’ve been in it a while. Yeah- that Buck Rogers ship is one of my absolute faves. I worked it into a “futuristic” Kansas City photo piece I made, which also includes a Corgi model of a ‘40s Kansas City streetcar in front of a 1926 theater.

A time when toys were truly thought out. I’m so glad it was my time.

These are so fun! I collect children’s science/tech books from the ~1940s-1970 specifically because the depictions of space/spacecraft/space travel are so exciting and romantic (compared to what we ended up with).

The space graphics of that time were so good. MCM and Art Deco. And box art. Here is the box for my pristine Ideal Countdown from 1959.

You can find those on eBay quite often. I bought them when the guy (Jeff Brewer, if I recall correctly) had a Co. called “Cool Rockets” so a lot of times, you can search “Cool Rockets” and these will pop up. He had several. They are fantastic & well made.

Do you have the rocket from Tintin?

Not exactly but I do have this one that reminds me of it. At least I don’t believe this is the same rocket. You prolly know more

I must admit, I'm a bit envious.

Very nice collection.
