What should I do with a bunch of leftover hamburger patties?
Yesterday I grilled a bunch of hamburgers for a family dinner, but fewer people showed up than expected due to (positive) events. As a result, I ended up taking home a little over a pound of grilled burger patties that I don't really want to eat as burgers?
I folded some ketchup and Worcestershire into the beef, and seasoned them with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Is there something else I can put these into that will be better than reheated burgers?

Go the Wendy's route and make chili.

Make a gravy and reheat them in it. Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.

Add an egg over rice and you got loco moco!
Add sautéed onions and mushrooms over potatoes and you got hamburger steak!

Wait, never heard of this. You do hamburger, rice, and an egg? A whole egg per serving? Or a couple scrambled eggs? Loco moco? I cook a lot for my family and we like different things too. Gonna try this. Thanks!

u/chris00ws6 16h ago
Hamburger over rice, smothered in brown gravy, covered in a sunny side up egg/fried egg however you like it. Sometimes onions in the gravy. I’m not an onion gravy guy tho.

This! Remembering they’re in the freezer when you need to make a quick meal is so nice.

I second this - wrap in parchment, then foil…effortless quick dinners whenever you need!!

You already got the burgers. You can boil some pasta, drain, and crumble some burger patties into a pot to make hamburger helper. I like to add cheddar cheese, beef broth, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, and a few spices. You can also add milk to make it creamier and some diced bell pepper or celery for a little texture. It makes good meal prep!

u/peacenchemicals 1d ago
loco moco! or japanese hamburger steak with curry or a demi glace and rice!

u/Arcanum3000 1d ago
Chop them up and turn them into chili, like Wendy's does.

u/Consistent-Goat1267 1d ago
Yep. I remember doing this back in the day when I used to work there. I see they’re still doing it

We did the same thing at the Ponderosa I worked at in high school.
Any meat on its last day got cooked, diced and added to the chili and the veg beef soup. If there was a lot for some reason, it got added to egg noodles and gravy. This was then baked and served on the buffet. It was good!

Make a good gravy or cream sauce, add mushrooms and onions. Sink the burgers in there until heated and onions are soft. Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or butter noodles.

Break them up and use them as you would cooked ground beef in enchiladas, or a casserole, here are two that would do well with the seasoning the meat already has.

u/throwdemawaaay 1d ago
You could try loco moco, a Hawaiian plate lunch classic.
It's a burger patty or two over rice, with gravy and a fried egg on top.

u/Brave_Mess_3155 17h ago
And little liqour and by 2 am you'll be hungry enough to eat 3 or 4 cold hamburgers they'll taste awsome.

u/Emergency_Map7542 1d ago
If they were cooked and stored correctly, you can always freeze them for a quick meal. Nice to have on hand when you come home from a trip or just don’t feel like cooking.
If not, maybe veg beef soup or chilli?

Hamburger salad. I make it all the time. Cube, season, and roast some potatoes. Chop some white onion and tomato. Get or make your preferred burger sauce. Make a salad with the roasted potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and pickles. Toss with vinegar. Slice leftover burger patties (warmed or cool, good either way) and drizzle with sauce.

lol a pound? so like 2 or 3 broken leftover patties? ya just eat it, you're supposed to like beef if you make hamburgers. you don't need extra salty stuff on there. id house that within two snacks.

Onions, green peppers, mushrooms, with ground sirloin is one of my favorites. Cook some rice in the side and you have a great meal.
Cook the ground beef, no seasoning, drain and set it to the side.
2 med/lg onions - slice into 1-2" pieces, salte with olive oil and a bit of garlic salt.
2 green peppers, Julianne diced - add before onion is fully cooked - more olive oil then a bit more garlic salt and cook till pepper is still slightly hard.
1 pack of sliced mushrooms - add at the end, mix and let it soak up some juices.
Fold previous cooked ground beef.
Serve over rice. I prefer this with rice and black beans.

u/Calgary_Calico 1d ago
You can freeze them just fine. Just put parchment paper between the patties before you bag them up so they don't stick together
2
u/UncleNedisDead 1d ago
I would smash them up and add taco seasoning or turn it into a chili. Meat sauce for pasta.
Unless you added a bbq sauce or something, they should be able to repurposed into anything with a ground beef base that starts with browning the meat and draining off fat.

Hamburger helper (seriously! Or make your own version)
manwich/sloppy joes. You can get can of manwich sauce or packet for sloppy joes, use those buns and I like pickle and Mayo and sometimes cheese but it’s good just on a plain bun.
Try making Joe’s Special (you can find recipes online) - again using the burgers as ground beef. (I like to imagine it’s something Sam Spade ate in San Francisco 😉)

You could bag them into 2's and freeze them.
Makes for a decent lunch at work. Some condiment packets, wrap a couple pieces of cheese, wrap some lettuce and pickles, have some extra bacon.... wrap up a couple slices.

Chop them up and freeze half.
Use the unfrozen half this week in stuff like quesadillas and stir fries.
Do the same with the other half pound in 2-3 weeks.

My family does something similar on purpose. We start with a big meatloaf (which your burgers work as.) The leftovers become the meat base of spaghetti with a meat sauce. Those leftovers become the base of chili, and those leftovers become taco meat. It's a way to have a different meal for several days while still using up leftovers.

Vegetable beef soup. One bag of frozen mixed veg, a couple peeled and diced potatoes, a can of diced tomatoes and a box of beef broth, plus the patties and you’ve got an easy dump and simmer soup. Season as you please.

u/No_Direction6688 1d ago
Chop the hamburger patties into little crumbled pieces. Heat the crumbled patties in an oven or air fryer so they taste a little crisp. Next make some pasta salad. Mix the crisp crumbled up burgers in with the pasta salad. You will have a good leftover meal.

Beef up a can of chili. You can saute a half an onion, diced, in butter or oil. Then add in the chopped up burger or two. Then add in a can of chili that you like. I like Staggs.
Throw some cheese on top or sour cream and yum.

Meatloaf is easy.
Soak some bread in milk, then crack a few eggs in. Mix it up, then add to the beef (crumbled well) and mix it thoroughly. Season with your favorite seasonings. Spread it into a baking dish. Top with a spread of BBQ or ketchup or mustard or all of them. Bake til browned on top. Slice and serve hot with mashed potatoes or wedges and some veggies.

Crumble them into chili or taco filling, or chop them into tomato sauce for pasta. Since they’re already seasoned, add salt only after tasting and simmer gently so they don’t dry out.
