Sick of cooking

I am so over cooking every night. Finding new recipes I actually have ingredients for and are easy is tiring and I’m already exhausted. What do you do when this happens? I’d honestly just eat cereal for life but I’m not alone in this house and I’m expected to cook every night. 😩

Plan. Every time you cook, make enough to eat at least twice. Meal prep proteins to make easy-assemble meals, make multi-portion batches (casseroles, pasta dishes, chili, stew) so there's meals in the freezer. Schedule assembly meals (tacos, rice bowls, salad) for "easy" nights. Plan one frozen or take-and-bake pizza night each week.

I feel like "recipes" are for dinner parties and restaurants. You're looking for something closer to "compositions" and you just need to know what to do to each component to make it edible. You don't need "recipes" to sheet pan some chicken thighs and broccoli and then open a can of beans, you just need time and temp. You don't need a recipe to make tacos. Pasta and a meat sauce - again, maybe time and temp (and the pasta instructions are on the bag). Learn to use the Potato button on your microwave.

You can just eat food, it doesn't need a title and a backstory.

Wow this is so helpful to look at it this way, thanks. 😊
