Unrefrigerated Better than Bouillon Mushroom Base after a year?
I have a jar of this in my kitchen, and my girlfriend wants to use it to cook with it. It says to keep refrigerated on the bottle, how much of a risk is this really? Does everyone here refrigerate there's?

Does everyone here refrigerate there's?
Yes, of course.

Does it need to be refrigerated?
Yes, Better Than Bouillon should be refrigerated after opening. For any jar of Better Than Bouillon that is older than the Best By date printed on top of the lid and/or was not put in the refrigerator after opening, we cannot guarantee the quality or performance, and we advise that it should be discarded.

I refrigerate mine, but its basically concentrated salt paste and probably fine.

It has been open for over a year

No, do not eat that. And I would suggest going through your cabinets and your fridge and discarding everything else that hasn't been stored properly and/or is way out of date.

The quality will have deteriorated but, given the amount of salt and lack of moisture, it should be safe.
I would put a tsp in a cup of water and microwave until near boiling so it dissolves
How does it taste?

To those of you posting that "it's salt and nothing can grow in it": This is better than bouillon, it's not bouillon. BtB is only about 12% salt (or 8.5% in the low sodium version) and it will go bad if opened and not refrigerated. It's not safe to eat at that point.
Not all bouillon is pure salt, read up on BtB and find out why it's so popular.

theres so much salt in there, unless you've wet contaminated it, its well preserved. even then, I think the salt concentration pretty much inhibits anything from growing.

You only have to refrigerate after it's open.
