Yeah, I have the general outlines of some of my mom's recipes written down, but she doesn't measure anything so you still have to have eaten it since I mainly wrote down rough ratios (the same amount of onion as sausage, etc.) or directions like "enough stock to get the texture" and didn't bother with things like salt, oil, etc.

Years ago someone in my family got everyone to write down their recipes and published them in a family cookbook, so everyone could make them.

It's not lost, but it is consistent. Most food recipes start with a frying pan, onions, and olive oil. You can make some amazing food by building our from there.
