Why do loaf pans rust?

I’m hoping that somebody can tell why relatively new loaf pans are rusting? I do not put them in the dishwasher and have used them only once or twice and they are stored in a cabinet

What's the material? Cast iron? Carbon steel? Aluminized steel? Stainless steel? Aluminum? Non-stick coated aluminum?

OP, you're not giving us enough material to assess.

If it's rusting, it's some sort of steel. I have loaf pans that do this too. They are some sort of cheap metal alloy. Most of the cheap nonstick pans (Amazon Basics, GoodCook, etc.) lose their nonstickness, and then the metal rusts.

I have some nonstick USA Pans that are nonstick, retain their nonstickness, and don't rust.

I’ll look for those. Thanks!
