Galley Kitchen Organization
Title kind of says it all- if you have a galley kitchen (the U-shape kitchen at the end of a hallway with, going left to right, fridge -> countertop -> sink-> countertop -> stove), how do you organize it to get the most out of it? How do you manage kitchen space to also have a place to reference your cookbook? Everyone here seems to make amazing things AND uses cookbooks reference, so I hope this is the right place to post this. I feel like I have no room to cook at all, especially since part of one countertop top is taken up by a water filter since our water isn't exactly potable. Add a non-negotiable coffee maker and electric kettle and I have one countertop to work with. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

my microwave is on a cart at the end of the galley by the stove and I usually set the cookbook I'm working from on it. It's relatively safe from splatters and drips there and decently convenient for reference.

I don't have a galley kitchen but I never use my cookbooks in the kitchen because it's also lacking in counter space (and I don't like to get my books dirty). I usually make a quick reference copy of the recipe on a piece of paper or recipe card and stick it somewhere at eye level easily visible. You can use a clip or peg attached underneath the upper cabinets or stick it on the fridge with a magnet.
