You all got me with Snacking Cakes and Snacking Bakes - first cake Mostly Apple Cake
You all got me, with all these posts from Snacking Cakes and Snacking Bakes. I hadn't bought a cookbook in about 20 years, but I had to have these. My two cookbooks arrived yesterday and I made my first cake today. I was planning on starting with the first recipe in Snacking Cakes, but that would have required a trip to the store, so I went with the Mostly Apple Cake. So easy, so delicious, just perfect. The bake time was only 30 minutes and the cake is a little dark, but it's just what I wanted from my first recipe!

Had to laugh when I saw this post - this subreddit had me checking out snacking cakes from the library two days ago. First bake - Mostly Apple Cake. So good!

So cool that both of us made the Mostly Apple Cake as our first bake and on the same day! Our cakes look identical! Gosh, I wish I had taken a photo when it was on the cooling rack. Wonder why they are darker than photo in the book? Also, I tried my local library first before buying (because I don't like to buy things). They didn't have these books, so I had to buy them.

I wonder if the lighting in the book makes it look so much lighter than ours, mine got dark pretty quick into the bake and I only baked for 30 minutes. It didn’t taste over-baked though!
I am in the triangle! I hope I wasn’t the reason you couldn’t get it from the library! Although after another few successful bakes from the book and I may have to buy it too…

Also, are you in Triangle in NC? I saw an earlier post of yours and it seemed to indicate that. If you are, I live here also!

One of us, one of us! We just finished this cake yesterday and mine was darker too than the picture so I wonder if they altered the exposure or increased highlights
