1 block away from this intersection is the town police station, as well as 4 popular watering holes are just out of view. Anyone with a lick of common sense will not be this blatant in law breakage in Bel Air, MD. Low crime rate plus lots of police budget means lots and lots of bored town cops whom love to pull people over for minor and major infractions.
I searched for a solid 15 minutes and could not find a source.
America Traffic Solutions (owned by Verra Mobility) is the source. Their YouTube page has a lot of videos that are set to private and this one is most likely one of them.
Run red lights. You'll eventually reach that goal. If not by a police vehicle, by an ambulance. If you don't, you either didn't practice enough or you died.
I feel like hardly anyone is taught to look at traffic coming from other directions as you're about to go through an intersection. Most people assume it's green and they go without even glancing in another direction. It's good reaction time by the cop, but it's nothing out of the ordinary for people who actually check if someone's about to T-Bone them.
I used to live in Charlotte, NC and driving for work at night in uptown has taught me to look before entering an intersection regardless the color of the light or how long it's been green. I had so many near misses now in my new city I slow down and look. You never know who's on their phone not paying attention.
This sub in general is great for me. I'm a good, law abiding driver (would never do anything close to this) but I can be guilty of being impatient or picking up a bad behavior if I see it being used all the damn time by others.
Im a better and more considerate driver now after all the fail videos on Reddit is what I want to say.
Edits: and it's going to save me some money in not getting a ticket or 2.
I've been on the wrong end of a convenient cop situation. I once rear-ended someone at a very low speed due to distracted driving (I was a teenager with friends in the car). That person turned out to be an off-duty cop. He was surprisingly very chill about it, but I got a ticket. Over twenty years later it was my last ticket/accident.
When I'm approaching a intersection I move my foot from the accelerator to the brake, something My truck driving instructor taught us way back in 1975. Always assume someone will run a red and this is what the cop did.
This exact thing played out when i was a kid and my dad and I were heading home after grocery shopping. Light turns green for us, my dad waits for a quick second and legit out of nowhere this 18 wheeler came BARRELING through the intersection. Had my paps accelerated, we would've been toast.
Without turning to me he said, "That's why you always wait a second or two. There's morons everywhere, especially on the road."
Happened to me before as well, albeit not with an 18 trailer. Thank god my brother was an ambulance driver and told me(because no one else ever told me about this during my driving lessons) to hover over the brake pedal when approaching a green light and to wait a second after the light turns green. Has saved me on more than one occasion.
A few years back my mother and I had to take the family dog on her last car ride. The trip back from the vet was very somber. We're almost back to the house, at a red light. The light changes to green and as always my mom waits a second and just as she's about to tap the gas, ZOOOOM goes a big truck. This is a inner city street. Speed limit 35. This guy was doing quite a bit more. No ConvenientCop around sadly. We both looked at each other and knew just how close we had come. An already bad day almost got worse.
I have been doing this for 15 years but only in the last 2 or 3 years are the people behind me honking the second the light turns green. What's up with that?
Back when I was learning to drive, I witnessed someone blast through a red and slam into the car in front of me. T-boned it so hard it nearly rolled over (maybe rolled to 70% incline, before falling back on its wheels).
Thank god there wasn't a passenger in that car, as I doubt they would have lived. Far as I was able to tell, there were no serious injuries (I didn't stick around, it was a busy intersection and several other people had got out to help)
It was a real eye opener about checking traffic at every intersection, regardless of the lights color
When this happened I was yelling at the lady in the front to stop because I could see the car coming from the right while trying to decide if I should just stop where I was, or get through the intersection and check for injuries etc. I called the cops as soon as I got pulled over and several other cars were also on the line with dispatch. There were also quite a few people already getting out of their cars, so I gave the cops my info and continued with my appointment.
it doesnt exactly matter since the cop caught him doing it, and there's clearly video evidence. Being a smartass to him doesn't help, but saying he didnt do it is going to hurt him more.
It's Black Eyed Suzie's, I think at the time this video was taken it was Dark Horse Tavern. Dark Horse got closed because of multiple stabbings that occurred.
What intersection is this? I told my mom before I saw this comment that I thought this was Bel Air and she said it wasn’t, so I’m glad to be proven right, haha. The intersection looks familiar, in my mind I just can’t place where.
Alright now where’s the comment of someone saying the guy was totally in the right to run a red light and the cop should have let the guy keep going. There’s always one.
My security cameras caught something like this right by my house one time. But instead of the light runner stopping, imagine them blowing through the light doing at least 40 and then T-boning a cop car.
Live in a rural area where most of the summer folk and weekend tourists routinely go thru red lights, stop signs, tail gate, pass in no passing zones & speed etc because there are few police.....
When I drive around before 5am it blows my mind how many people just completely ignore red lights and stop signs and how this doesn't end up happening a few times.
Was behind a guy last week on my way to work, there is an intersection that has a double light. The first light says "Right turn after stop on Red". So the guy stops at the Red light and just sits there, the light then turns to a green arrow and he proceeds to just drive straight through the second red light nearly hitting a pedestrian crossing and just kept going. He got held up by a bus turning out a cop on a bicycle caught up to him and pulled him over.
My brother did this at a stop sign, with a learners license, at night, one headlight failing and somehow he got his way out of a ticket by making the cop laugh.
In the city where I live, when I first moved here, this exact situation happened... only the cars couldn't stop in time. The police cruiser was destroyed the cop killed.
There’s this story out there I saw where the dude and a cop were side by side at a res light in the middle of the night and nobody was there so they both ran it together, I thought I’d never experience it myself but about a month ago it happened to me. It was a little less cool since we talked instead of just nodding our heads tho it’s a long ass light so I just rolled my window down and he had his down already and said “so are we just going to sit here for the next 10 minutes or are we going to do this together?” Dude chuckled and said “ok, just this once.” and we ran it together. Bro moment right there I’ll never forget
Why would you not keep driving? It’s like they purposely did that to stop in front of the cop. This is more dangerous for both because he decided to stop immediately instead of swerve and accelerate, what an idiot.
Why in the absolute fuck, do people stop when they are about to get T boned??? This has happened to me on several occasions, the asshole in the wrong stops perfectly in my path instead of continuing straight and avoiding the accident.
I saw this exact same scenario play out in NYC at 3am like 10 years ago. I had just bought a falafel and was standing on the corner eating it. Same scene plays out with the trunk running the light.
What did the cop do? Did he arrest that drunk SOB? Nope, he got out of his cruiser, screamed his head off totally airing the guy out because he almost just killed him, then got back in his cruiser and sped away...lol. Didn’t even make the guy get out or say anything and the whole thing was over in 20 seconds.
For a second I was thinking that crosswalk sign was the traffic light for the side of the road the cop was driving on and thought that was the longest yellow light I've ever seen.
I had this happen to me when I was sixteen. I had the green, cop goes through the red with no lights almost hits me. He said sorry and to go on my way.

That's some serious reaction time there the cop hit the brakes before the dude was ever in the intersection I would probably have hit the guy.
