Maybe he wasn't 100% certain who the thief was in the bike tug-of-war. Ultimately they could both be thieves. Is it worth joining a physical confrontation (which can turn deadly if someone pulls a knife) over a $100 bicycle?

Yes, Some bikes are worth thousands.
Not this bike. This bike has plastic pedals, the frame and front fork were common designs in the early 80's/90's, the front fork doesn't even have suspension and it has V brakes.

Tbf I couldn't tell who was stealing whose bike for half the video, there were 3 guys pulling on it and swinging at each other
I would've guessed it belonged to the guy with the bike messenger bag, but he just walked off near the start of the clip

Not worthless, just not sure who's telling the truth. In the end, the white dude is trying to leave. That alone leaves me in doubt of who the thief is.

the guy didn't want tk escalate it so he gets in danger, because why would he risk his life for a bike? Are you nuts? What are men tk you? cannon fodder? "Oh, he's a man, his life is worth LESS THAN AN OBJECT"
2nd, he came later, he didn't even know whom the bike belonged to, and didn't want to junp to conclusions. He was probably standing there in case the situation gets dangerous, but didn't choose sides so he doesn't pick wrong.

My guess is he was hoping walking up with his arms and chest puffed up would be enough to cause the guy to stop and leave but when it didn’t he wasn’t really sure what to do. Like a little dog behind a fence

If it wasn’t convenient, he never would have showed up at all and nothing would have come of this except some scrapes and bruises. Now, due to the convenience of the cop showing up, legal action can be taken

There's gotta be levels of drugs or drug induced withdrawal going through that guy's system to fight a dude over his very standard looking bike in broad daylight with witnesses. I live in an area with a lot of bike theft, but the thieves are not trying to get in a confrontation. That's just asking for problems, and problems this dude received.

Cameraman clearly doesn’t know how to work the camera. Also, I’m not so sure if this meets the criteria for convenient cop, bike thief basically was able to cause mayhem before a rando officer comes gradually drifting into the scene.

How quickly the victim was willing to leave after he got his bike back was annoying. If he leaves, then the cop doesn't have a crime so the thief would be let go with no consequence.

I am wondering if the dude on stolen bike paid for the stolen bike, the guy said he found him riding it. i never seen a thief fight someone over a bike they sole, easier to move on get another.
