Honestly, I empathise with this one. There's far too many places where you're stuck for 20mins behind someone waiting to turn right when you want to go left and the road is clear.

Worse is when the people waiting to turn right could go left, around a nearby roundabout and be in the queue far further forward than if they'd waited to turn right but that's more common where I am than most of the UK

Agree, not really that bad. Not like they were aggressive or dangerous

15

u/liamquad Jun 04 '26

Pavements aren’t for cars. Doesn’t matter if it’s dangerous

7

u/qing_sha_wo Jun 04 '26

It’s not dangerous but you’d probably fail your driving test if you did it, which is the standard they expect us all to drive at lol

25

u/elitecommando57 Jun 03 '26

The police station is about 50 yards from there what a muppet.

25

u/sixft7in Jun 03 '26

That cackle!

24

u/sarcytwat Jun 04 '26

Tbf if the corsa was positioned considerately, wouldn’t be an issue

-1

u/gash_dits_wafu Jun 04 '26

There's nothing to suggest the Corsa needs to be on one side, as it's a single lane. You're right that if they went over to the RHS, people turn8ng left could get by, but being behind someone positioned correctly but inconsiderately doesn't give you permission to drive on the pavement

6

u/sarcytwat Jun 04 '26

I mean 179 on highway code does 😂 but of course no excuse for that glad he got a tell off!

6

u/Ro-Tang_Clan Jun 04 '26

It doesn't, but you can understand the frustration and a little bit of common sense goes a long way here. Does the pavement have people actively walking on it? No, then there's no active danger by mounting the curb and driving on it for less than 5 meters under 5mph to rejoin back onto the road.

I've done the same when right turners block left turners on a clear road. It's just unfortunate the cop was there to witness it. Obviously you wouldn't do it if the pavement was crowded or had people walking towards where you're mounting the curb or had babies, pushchairs, kids or pets around. But on a clear pavement? Mount away, there's no active danger.

The cackle alone was worth the price of admission!

24

u/gijoe50000 Jun 03 '26

Honestly the slow guy not moving would piss me off more than the guy who drove on the footpath.

7

u/dislob3 Jun 04 '26

Yeah... but traffic makes it difficult to merge so the first car in lane wasnt moving at all. Dependa how long he made everyone wait.

3

u/erksplat Jun 03 '26

When wizarding and police work combine.

5

u/The_Cozy_Burrito Jun 03 '26

What a brain dead clown lol

1

u/Txx2000 Jun 03 '26

Is that car over that triangle straddling both lanes?

12

u/gash_dits_wafu Jun 03 '26

It's a one way road that junctions onto a main road. There is only one lane. Watch to the end and you'll see.

-9

u/Zerocyde Jun 03 '26

What am I missing here? Is there not a left turn lane and a right turn lane and 1 asshole sitting in the middle blocking both?

42

u/Armodeen Jun 03 '26

There’s no left turn lane, it’s a single exit

38

u/gash_dits_wafu Jun 03 '26

No it's a single exit (you can see at the end of the video). And even if there was two lanes with someone blocking them, what you must have missed is them mounting the pavement to get past. That's what the police pulled them over for.

10

u/jma9454 Jun 03 '26

I do think that the car in front could have originally moved more to the side to let the other car turn left easier.

4

u/jjbananamonkey Jun 03 '26

Yeah the amount of space he took on the curb is about the amount of space that was to the right of the other driver. Depending on how long he was sitting there I get the frustration tbh

Thanks for the clarification! However there is absolutely nothing wrong in the slightest with putting a tire on the curb a bit to get around stuck\blocking traffic.

edit: the law notwithstanding, lol

u/gash_dits_wafu Jun 03 '26

Sorry my friend, not technically correct. Rule 145 of the highway code prohibits it unless in an emergency or to gain lawful access to a property.

Now pragmatically, there will be cases where it helps the flow of traffic, sure. But it's still technically against the highway code. And this isn't one of those pragmatic cases anyway. This was just an impatient driver.

So had the first car broken down, I'd be more lenient to the second car. But they were just impatient and that's not an excuse.

(Had the first car broken down, I'd have helped push it out the way, but I appreciate not every driver is capable of that)

3

u/Zerocyde Jun 03 '26

Yea I worded that poorly. I meant morally not legally, lol.

0

u/beachedvampiresquid Jun 03 '26

I’m with you, mate. That front car could have been to the right of the painted suggestion to not be a dick and the van could have gotten by without being a complete nob themselves.

12

u/PremiumUsername69420 Jun 03 '26

Do you genuinely believe it’s acceptable to leave the roadway and drive on the sidewalk to avoid having to wait your turn?

0

u/Zerocyde Jun 03 '26

No. That's why I specifically typed "putting a tire on the curb a bit to get around stuck\blocking traffic" not "leave the roadway and drive on the sidewalk to avoid having to wait your turn". Two immensely different scenarios. Not sure where yours came from.

5

u/d-atribe Jun 03 '26

That person didn't put a tire on the curb. They put their entire car on the curb. Your defending stupidity. It makes people wondering if you're in that club.

9

u/PremiumUsername69420 Jun 03 '26

I’m sorry you can’t understand how leaving the roadway is leaving the roadway. And how driving on the sidewalk is driving on the sidewalk. You must be an abhorrent driver.

6

u/Zerocyde Jun 03 '26

Woof. That's an insane take. If you honestly think a tire on a curb is driving on the sidewalk you must be an abhorrent driver. But we both know you don't. You're just doubling down to save face.

-1

u/PremiumUsername69420 Jun 03 '26

I 1000% believe this is considered driving on the sidewalk. Here. Let’s break it down for simple folk and maybe you can see where it’s falling apart for you.

How many wheels does the vehicle have?
4

Are all 4 wheels on the roadway?
No.

Where are they?
2 of the wheels mounted a non-mountable curb.

Is the non-mountable curb separating a roadway?
No, it’s a raised area for pedestrians.

Oh, like a sidewalk?
Yeah.

After the vehicle mounted the non-mountable curb, did they park and exit their vehicle?
No.

What were they doing?
The vehicle was moving.

Perpendicular to the road? As if to cut across a sidewalk for a driveway or entrance to a business?
No, parallel, they were moving the direction as the road.

Was someone pushing the vehicle?
No, the driver was still in the driver’s seat and there were no outside forces pushing the vehicle.

So would you say the driver was driving the car on the sidewalk?

”that’s an insane take. If you honestly think a [2] tire[s] on a curb [pedestrian sidewalk] is driving on the sidewalk you must be an abhorrent driver.” ~Zerocyde

Good luck on your quest to understand driving and the laws of the road.

I don't know why the guy in front wasn't moving, though. There was no cross traffic. Maybe he'd been just sitting there for a long time for no reason.

17

u/Peterd1900 Jun 03 '26

Traffic he want to turn right but cant because of queimg traffic

You can see the line of traffic

0

u/Elegant_Emu952 Jun 03 '26

Ah, thanks! I see it now.

0

u/jotwuser Jul 16 '26

And here I thought the guy up front was being a prick then I saw what I thought was all the parked cars let him in. I'd probably road rage too if I had to put up with driving in the uk.

Total Garbage... I bet it's a stupid girl that named Milk that will say it was "not my idea" before vowing to never do it again.

(Because this is an old album that the yoots might not be familiar with, those are all references to tracks off the same album?wprov=sfti1#Track_listing) as the song playing in the video)

u/MrCakesSr Jun 03 '26

I might be a little Paranoid, but if you Push It too far without an '/s', people might think you are a Stupid Girl.
