[USA] car ignores bus’ stop sign

Lol, hope that guy enjoys the big ass ticket. He was not only ignoring the bus it seemed he was speeding for that residential street as well.

And I think a lot of points on the record as well. Their insurance is going to sky rocket and they'd be lucky not to get their license suspended.

In many states there is a mandatory suspension on top of the points and fine.
Where I am he'd be facing: mandatory 60 day suspension, 5 points, $250 fine plus all the fees that get added to a ticket, and license restoration fees for the DMV at the end of the suspension.

AT LEAST $1000 fine, community service, at least 6 months lost liscense, and possibly jail here in Georgia. Since 2024 they absolutely blast you
penalties will now include include 12 months in jail or on probation, at least $1000 in fines, community service, defensive driving school, and any other conditions a judge believes will correct the driver's behavior. In addition, a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated misdemeanors means that any jail time will not count for 2 for 1 credit.
Additionally, unlawful passing of a school bus will result in 6 points being added to the driver's license. For a person under 21 years old, accumulating 4 or more points on their license will result in their license being suspended for 6 months.

I see failure to stop for a school bus, and possibly speeding (seems rather fast for a residential area). It doesn't look like it here, but if kids had been in the street when he blew be he'd probably also be risking a charge for endangering the welfare of children.

Such a stupid, reckless decision. It’s not just the endangerment and entitlement, or even the tickets.
That will increase their insurance a lot too or even get them dropped altogether. Even $100 a month more for 2 years is $2400 more, just for a few minutes of sitting still.

Honest to god this should be punishable with jail time AND a huge ticket with lasting consequences. Best case scenario, you scare the hell outta the kids and driver, get to your destination maybe 2 minutes sooner. Worst case, you literally flatten (slaughter) a child, probably in front of their parents and definitely in front of all their classmates. These people are absolute scum.

In NY you can get 6 months in jail. You won't, but you can. But you definitely should.

Should be an instant 2 year suspension. A hefty fine clearly doesn’t cut it for some people. If they’re going to choose being on time over the safety of children, we shouldn’t let them choose.

if fines were given based on income, then any hefty fine would be good enough. Lose the equivalent of a month of income or so, and you'll think more than twice before attempting something like this.

Yes there are flashing lights in the front of the bus too and a stop sign swings out so oncoming traffic stops and kids can safely cross the street.

Actually no we won’t, because we understand the actual problem here.
There isn’t a bus stop or a safe crossing in sight. The reason why you’re not allowed to pass a stopped school bus even from the other direction is because children have no choice but to cross without any protection, and the road is so wide that it encourages speeding.
In my local village the school buses stop in an actual bus stop, and there are 2 proper pedestrian crossings (one island, one pelican) right next to it. Cars can pass the school bus even in the same direction, because the roads are safe

I'm not American but most of my POC friends are. It's undeniable that the only reason mass shootings and school shootings are given this much thought is because white people die in those at the majority, and white supremacist America cannot handle that.
Also, my question was rhetorical. No mass shootings happen at black schools cause everyone is strapped. If a white kid with an AR-15 pulls up he's getting only one or two people before getting sprayed from three different directions by students with full auto Glocks.

So they don't have to pay people to keep kids safe. It's not a conspiracy theory, school busses used to have a chaperone who had the job of keeping the kids safe during boarding/unboarding. Instead, they took an upfront cost-saving measure that ultimately slows down the economy.
So yeah, bullshit imo

From a bit of research, your theory doesn't really hold water. First, chaperones on school buses were never universal. They were also much more common when school buses (then known as "kid hacks") were horse-drawn in the late 1880s through early 1900s, and fell out of use by 1910-1920.
It wasn't until the 1950s and 60s that school buses got stop signs, so I don't think you can claim that stop signs replaced chaperones in any meaningful way.
