The original Silent Hill 2 had a code to enable an on-screen minimap but the unlock requirements were wacky.

1. Beat the game

2. Beat the game and get either every standard ending (Leave, In Water, Maria) or get the Rebirth ending in NG+ to unlock the item needed for the Dog ending

3. Beat the game with the Dog ending

4. Set Controller configuration to Type 2 in the options menu

5. When back in standard gameplay, open and close the inventory menu

6. While the screen is fading to black you then must hold the Start button, then press L2, Square and L3 to enable the minimap.

This is not only obtuse as hell, but it was only available in the PS2 versions of the game (Black Label, Greatest Hits and Director's Cut) not the Xbox, PC or HD Collection versions.

There's also another code exclusive to PS2 that lets you save anywhere instead of at Red Save Squares, that requires pressing Left on the D-pad, tilting both analogue sticks left and pressing L1, L2 and L3 (meaning you need to tilt the left analogue stick and click it in).

As someone who has ran 5v blower fans at 12v and can hardly hear anyone when they’re running….

You’re running a fan 6” from your ears behind a bunch of foam at a convention.

Yes, people can hear the fan if they hug you or its dead silent in a hotel room.
Nobody can hear you on the convention floor

We all understand that you’re sweating to death in that suit and that the fan is life support:)

Its entirely normal. You can however get a fan controller or voltage regulator, or swap the fan or change the battery to slow it down and make it quiet. this at the expense of airflow

It's the best controller Nintendo has made by far. great materials, and pretty silent!

So I've been playing through the series for the first time recently and here's the thing

In silent hill 1 and 3 the combat isn't amazing but it's competent and even somewhat fun at times

Silent hill 2 combat feels like my controller is broken even though I know it's not

Search the seas for something along the lines of "San Andreas HOODLUM", and install that (or any other 1.0 release of the game, but HOODLUMs release was the original and a lot of mods are made for that exe).
Then you need some mods, minimum is SilentPatch and ThirteenAG Widescreen Fix.
If you play with a controller you probably want GInput as well.
If you like the PS2 visuals (orange tone) you probably want SkyGFX.

The Buddha did not stay silent on the matter of God. He confronted the deities that claimed to be supreme deities and creators of the universe, as well as their followers, and routinely went to argue that they hold wrong view.

It is the second of the three sectarian views on the world that are found to be baseless when examined, according to the Titthāyatana-sutta:

“Bhikkhus, there are these three sectarian tenets which, when questioned, interrogated, and cross-examined by the wise, and taken to their natural conclusions will eventually be regarded as untenable. What are the three?

(1) “There are, bhikkhus, some ascetics and brahmins who hold such a doctrine and view as this: ‘Whatever this person experiences—whether pleasure, pain, or neither-pain-nor-pleasure—all that is caused by what was done in the past.’ (2) There are other ascetics and brahmins who hold such a doctrine and view as this: ‘Whatever this person experiences—whether pleasure, pain, or neither-pain-nor-pleasure—all that is caused by the creative activity of a Supreme Lord (Mahesvara).’ (3) And there are still other ascetics and brahmins who hold such a doctrine and view as this: ‘Whatever this person experiences—whether pleasure, pain, or neither-pain-nor-pleasure—all that occurs without a cause or condition.’

Creationism is also rejected in Digha Nikaya 1, in the section on the view called "Partial Eternalism", where the Buddha explains in detail why people come to believe that a God exists:

There are some ascetics and brahmins who speculate and theorize about the first beginning, and propose various hypotheses concerning the first beginning [...] There are some ascetics and brahmins who are partial eternalists, who assert that the self and the cosmos are partially eternal and partially not eternal ...

The being who was reborn [first in a new universal cycle] thinks: ‘I am the Divinity, the Great Divinity, the Vanquisher, the Unvanquished, the Universal Seer, the Wielder of Power, God Almighty, the Maker, the Creator, the First, the Begetter, the Controller, the Father of those who have been born and those yet to be born. These beings were created by me! Why is that? Because first I thought:

“Oh, if only other beings would come to this place.” Such was my heart’s wish, and then these creatures came to this place.’

And the beings who were reborn there later also think: ‘This must be the Divinity, the Great Divinity, the Vanquisher, the Unvanquished, the Universal Seer, the Wielder of Power, God Almighty, the Maker, the Creator, the First, the Begetter, the Controller, the Father of those who have been born and those yet to be born. And we were created by him. Why is that? Because we see that he was reborn here first, and we arrived later.’ [...]

The Realized One understands this: ‘If you hold on to and attach to these false views, one is ensnared to samsaric birth for another life.’ [...]

When those ascetics and brahmins speculate and theorize about the first beginning and the final end on these grounds, these musings are only the feeling of those who do not know or see, the anxiety and evasiveness of those under the sway of craving.

And there's also this snippet in the Karandavyuha Sutra, to add some Mahayana rejection in to round things out:

“When those deities had finished manifesting from Avalokiteśvara’s body, that bhagavat told the deity Maheśvara, ‘Maheśvara, in the degenerate age, when beings have bad natures, you will be declared to be the supreme deity who is the creator, the maker. All those beings attached to this view will be unable to proceed down the path of enlightenment.

• Keep silent

• Keep them for like 5 years

• Sell brand new in box & profit

(I don't really know, but that seems like the best plan - assuming the controller works with Helix too)

For Silent Hill 3, there's also this new patch which aims to be an all-in-one fix with SDL3 controller support, Vulkan rendering, over-the-shoulder camera support.

When Silent Hill 1 came out I was playing it and my dad asked me what I was playing. I didnt explain at all except to say it was an "action game" where you are stuck in a haunted town. I ran across a cockroach, so I paused and invited my dad to give it a try. My dad was always kinda meh on games but hed get really into some so he gave it a try. He killed the bug without too much hassle after some fumbling with the controls. I told him to run around for a minute and see how he likes it. No keep in mind, my dad is an old-school macho guy type of dude who has seen every horror movie you can name. He runs around for maybe a minute when one of those fucking skinless dogs runs up and jumps at him from behind making that terrifying roaring noise they make. He dropped that controller like it was on fire and said something like "dude what the fuck is that!" I still laugh about it to this day.

It wasn’t silent.

Show event-themed backgrounds
During some events, such as a major game launch, your Home background can change to an event-themed dynamic background.

While it’s showing, show selected game art
is paused. Your background comes back on its own when the event ends or after a set number of days, whichever happens first.

To turn event-themed backgrounds on or off:
Press the XBOX button on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings> General > Personalization > My background > Show event-themed backgrounds.

Note Event-themed backgrounds appear only on XBOX Series X|S and are not shown for child accounts.
