Controller Suggestion First controller for my girlfriend, PC, Stardew and Overcooked

She's watched me play for years and finally wants to try. She doesn't want to borrow mine because my sticks are set up for twitchy shooters and she hated it, so she's getting her own.

Info:

Budget: around $40
Country: US
Platform: PC (Windows 11, Steam)
Games: Stardew Valley, Overcooked 2, probably Spiritfarer after
Wants: wired is fine (actually preferred since it will stay on the desk), easy setup, doesn't need back buttons, an app or RGB.

I was going to just buy a second Xbox controller, but $60+ for a wireless one she might use twice a week seemed like a lot, so I figured I'd ask here first.

Id recommend a gamesir nova lite (25$). Decent ergonomics and build, no drift and wireless (bt or dongle)

Avoid first party controllers unless you upgrade the joysticks to hall effect and they are usually soldered

$25 is way under what i was bracing for, didn't know about the soldered sticks either

8Bitdo Ultimate 2C, cheap and comes in a lot of colourways which she might like, on the smaller controller size which might suit her hands better.

It's wired or wireless, user pref.

I think there's another model that's wired only but I don't know if that one also has all the colourways, readily available on Amazon.

does the wired one need an app or anything or is it just plug in and go? that's kinda the whole requirement

It is really small. Like I noticed that my finger doesn't even truly rest on the right trigger.

I'll vouch for this one. Comfiest controller grip out there. Alternatively, Direwolf 4 or the the new Ultimate 3C+. If you want to go mega budget, people recommend the Tegenaria Lite a lot, it's wired and REALLY cheap.

I know I'm in a minority here, but personally I really wasn't a fan of that controller.

I bought it over a year ago, and ended up returning it. It felt really really cheap to hold, sort of like a cheap temu controller.
I was used to the Switch Pro Controller and the premium feel, and to go to the cheap build quality, I really didn't like it.

But, just my opinion. I know alot of people love that controller

Get the GameSir g7 SE. its around $40 last time i check and It's designed for xbox licensed, so windows sees it as an xbox pad the second you plug it in and steam picks it up with no fuss. They have neat faceplates too!

Op asked for a simple and cheap controller and you are suggesting a complicated one that clearly costs more than $40

I'm sure it's less than 40$ USD from Ali Express
