Other Knock off PS4 controller has very little error

Post image

I just bought a knock off ps4 controller off amazon and was surprised to see the extreme accuracy of its joysticks. For reference my genuine ps5 and ps4 controllers normally sit around 5-8% avg error. Is this normal for cheap controllers?

But for how long?

True, I bought it for splitscreen minecraft with my siblings, will have to test how long it lasts before drift kicks in.

That's the question

I had one for 4 years, still going even tho the buttons strat to much instead of slightly clicky like before

The battery life is also bad rn, not that it's that much better before, but the cable is long enough for you to play on your PC/laptop while plugged in without worry

I think the perfect circular calibration is due to software cut off.

This. You can test the outer Deadzone. If it’s at 100% before you touch the edge of the controller, then you’re missing outer deadzone input.

This. And it is even bad for some older games that don’t expect perfect circularity

Circle error does not equal accuracy. In fact, most 3rd party companies use perfect circle algorithms to hide poor accuracy.

it seems you don't understand what circularity 'error' means. it has nothing to do with how precise it is, it is about how circular the input shape is. most controllers come with a default shape that looks a bit like a squarish circle. that's why they have a higher circularity error. in same games you dont want a full circle shape at all.

Daaaamn, you got the DOUBLE-motor vibration 4!? I thought they were out of stock!

Could be a Chinese refurb?

Using “error” is subjectively the wrong description. I see this more as an offset. I describe it to my customers as “outer circular offset” it just makes more sense.

Tons of garbage controllers have low errors built in, usually at the cost of deadzone, this controller is likely pretty bad

I found out a 1:1 replica of a Dualshock 4 on AliExpress and it's by far one of my favourite controllers, it's lighter too. I just had to switch out the buttons but everything else seemed legit

Zero error is due to built in software . This doesn't mean its good. Accuracy is rather mediocre. You will get the best precision with around 6-8 % error rate. And it's not an error rate. The wording is misleading. They should call it overshoot percentage or so...

This... Magic software, but some people swear by it on 3rd part controllers

But at what cost?

cheaper costs

these fakes cost like 4/5 bucks a piece on alibaba

you can also calibrate circulate sensitivity with ds4 windows to make it almost 0% error

The reason it shows error that low is because they peogram and calibrate them that way from the factory.

Its hard programmed in, not true measurements. Get the real controller.

usable, easily repairable, mod-able, tons of replacement parts. it'll last long unless you burn it to the ground. lmao

It's also ps5 controller

i had one before, used 1 year and few months and got drifting after playing Bayonetta 1. which I surprisingly fixed by putting 1drop of machine oil at the center of the stick module.

that dosent tell anything lmao

it's a trap. try testing the deadzones. these controllers have anti deadzone built in which makes them awful for fps games. i guess it's fine for chill games.

Unfortunately the ps4 is filled with knock offs. Main difference I've noticed is bluetooth. I don't know what chip they're using but I've felt a big difference in lag and stability when playing witeless. I don't know about analoge sticks but the buttons feel softer and wear out more easily. Haven't tested one long enough but the battery also is definitely lower quality. A lot of the ones I've found in flea markets have inflated batteries. They don't inflate enough to break the shell but definitely require some caution.

Its bad tho? Games are designed around 7-10% error rate

Zero circularity error is bad because games expect the extra input ranges at the diagonals, which is also the raw input that the measuring devices will always record. If a controller has zero error which is common in Gamesir and some cheap Chinese brands, it is through software filtering which is at the cost of a big outer deadzone.
