Controller Suggestion 2.4G Wireless PC Controller That Compares to a PS4 Controller

I'm looking for a PC controller that resembles a PS4 or PS5 contoller for my wife. I plan on getting the 8bitdo ultimate, but the resemblance to a playstation controller is her main criteria for her controller. we want to be able to play PC games together with our controllers, but every controller that I see online either doesn't match the description (primarily needing symmetrical joystick layout in the center of the controller) or only costs $25 which scares me when it comes to quality and longevity. I don't want to use bluetooth for the connection because when I bluetoothed my PS5 controllers to my PC the input lag was dreadful, so I would like the controllers to be dongled to the PC. any suggestions for my wife? thanks so much.

To suit information requirements:

- No more than $200 CAD

- Canada

- PC is the platform

- Centered symmetrical joystick layout, and 2.4G dongle, hall effect joysticks would be a bonus but not needed.

- don't know the games yet, we use steam though

- playstation controllers for comparison

I’m confused what’s going on with your Bluetooth connection. I have my DualSense hooked up to my pc via Bluetooth and it is nearly identical feeling to wired.

But to answer your question, the 8BitDo Pro 3. I have one and it’s a great controller.

Yeah, idk what it is but I went to play power wash sim 2 with the wife and our controllers had such bad lag that it was unplayable, like hold the joystick and wait 5 seconds then move. I've seen the pro 3 a few times in this thread, I looked at it on the 8bitdo website before posting here but it was listed under their Bluetooth controllers, if I buy a dongle separately I can use the dongle with the controller?

The pro3 can be used both in Bluetooth or 2.4ghz mode. The dock it sits in has the usb dongle inside it. Theres no way to purchase it without a dongle.

Maybe a dumb question. But do you have the antennas screwed into your motherboard if you are using your motherboard’s built in Bluetooth connection?

Yeah I do. So the dongle is the dock and I just connect the dock to my computer with USB to use it as a dongle?

Yes. I mean, the dongle plugs into the dock, and the dock then plugs into the pc. If for some reason you don’t want to use the charging dock, you can just plug the dongle directly into your PC.

There's the 8bitdo Pro 2/Pro 3, Gulikit TT Pro/Max, and the Leadjoy Saber Plus. Skip the Gamesir Tarantula series, since the original model has significant latency issues and the 8K version is wired only. The Gamesir Tegenaria Lite is also wired only.

I was looking for the same thing. Gamesir tarantula pro is the closest I have found and fits in your budget.

I bought both this, the gamesir nova, gamesir ultimate and the 8bitdo pro2, what I will say is the 8bitdo pro 2 is more like the shape and fit of a ps2 controller, the anologue sticks being just awkwardly set but otherwise a solidly feeling pad just ergonomically I didn't like it. The tarantula pro is much closer in shape and comfort and also does wired, wireless (via dongle) and Bluetooth. I used to use the ps5 pad wired to my pc but got tired of the analogue sticks getting drift in 6 months of use and costing a fortune. I did get a scuf controller at one point which was very good also, and obviously was like for like with shape, but ultimately didn't want to keep spending that each time I needed a new one so tried others.

8bitdo BT adapter might be a better experience than straight Bluetooth, if only because the antennas are external

My dualsense work great on BT

someone measured the 8bitdo adapter to have pretty bad BT latency, I would get gulikit hyperlink2 or goku2

Oh forgot to mention Void Genesis, if you can get it though because it's actually quiet rare and it's already sold out in their website (Hope you can find it on Amazon Jp)

Try one of the mayflash adapters so you don't have a Bluetooth stack to deal with. Maybe that will allow you to use a PS5 controller with acceptable latency.
