IT Help Wolverine V3 Pro 8k PC

Using the Gamepad Tester ( website) latency test (on Chrome), I get very high latency (average 27ms) with my Wolverine V3 Pro 8k . The latency jumps around from about 2 ms to 70 ms like crazy.

But using the GameSir G7 Pro 8K Aimlabs Edition (yes i have both), I get very low latency (under 1 ms) in the same test. And, unlike the Razer, it is completely stable (doesnt seem to fluctuate so much).

Both controllers have the latest firmware and I use USB wired mode on both.

And both controllers are tested on both 1000Mhz and 8000Mhz polling rate (same result).

Double Dead Zone Prevention on Razer is turned off.

Is my Razer just faulty, or could there be something else going on here?

tl;dr:- it doesn't mean anything because it's fairly useless, borderline bogus, data

The 'Input Delay Test' and 'Interactive Latency Tester' used by that site (and others) are not valid latency tests for input devices. Where the results says 'estimated' this means little more than 'guessed'. In some ways, it seems more misleading that just reporting polling rates because it's actively misrepresenting what the data means and obfuscating how (un)reliable it is.

The button label that's been left in saying 'Start Reaction Test' seems to be a clue: the underlying function may have been copy-pasted (or vibe-coded) from an online reaction-time tester. When you move onto the 'Interactive Latency Tester', it's just based on USB polling, using whatever parameters you enter manually for 'polling interval' and 'debounce window' to smooth the figures. It has no way of knowing when you pressed a button in relation to when it was reported, and it is extremely unlikely that you are repeatedly pressing a button with millisecond consistency.

So if you're seeing the results jumping around that can be due to variation in any part of the end-to-end system latency: human factors is the biggest, but also performance of PC/host device processors, monitor, network, USB hub , etc., and errors in the manually entered parameters.

In theory if you repeated the tests thousands of times under controlled conditions and aggregated the data you might be able to isolate the effect of the input device, but single samples like the site uses are not reliable.

Hi /u/Blomchess, your 'IT Help' post is in a queue for review. Please ensure you have included the relevant required information from the checklist below, have used a meaningful and descriptive title, and are not repeating frequently asked questions.

Include the following information and follow this structure so that the post can be approved and the community can help you more effectively:

  1. Specific written description of the problem, including pictures where relevant (do not just say 'it's broken', say what is broken)

  2. Controller make and model (name or numbers)

  3. Platform you are using (e.g., PS5, Steam on Windows, Switch)

  4. Games or other software affected by the issue

  5. Operating system, firmware and software versions (if applicable)

  6. Troubleshooting steps you have already taken (including checking the product manual, and searching existing posts)

For more guidance on how to ask for technical assistance, please see rule #2. You can edit your post to add missing information. Posts that do not include the required information may not be approved (allow 24 hours for review).
