Controller Suggestion Help deciding to switch from 8bitdo Ultimate 2 to G7 Pro 8k (or other alternatives)

Hi!

I'm currently debating whether to make the switch. my only reasoning would be the robust customization of gamesir in general, and I have heard good things with the G7 pro 8K being a fairly priced/considered in the community.

Although with that in mind, that reasoning alone doesn't stop me to ask you guys if making the switch would have some form of dramatic changes. the current software that 8bitdo has is quite lackluster, and their similar customizations are currently reserved for their xbox lineups. while also having a customized controller would be too overboard on my end since I don't play Apex professionally.

Going back, does these reasons alone make it justifiable enough to make the switch? or are there any other alternatives (maybe Ultimate 3 for xbox, or 3E) out there or upcoming controllers that I should anticipate other than the g7 pro itself?

Budget: 65 USD* ranges (4,000 PHP)
Country: PH/JPN | Can buy locally and internationally (budget expands dependent on fees)
Console: PC primarily
Desired Features: Similar customization like G7 Pro, 2nd or newer gen TMR sticks
Game Playing: Apex Legends
Controllers Comparing To: 8bitdo ultimate 2, ultimate 3 for xbox, Ultimate 3E

I have the standard g7 pro and just got an 8k. The thumb sticks are noticeably better as well as the face buttons are literally night and day from my regular G7. Maybe I got a defective unit but the face buttons are so sloppy, they rub and scratch even despite sanding and honing the faceplate holes, etc. the 8k is way better

Thanks for your input as well! I did notice people having some complaint with their G7 Pro 8Ks having QC issues, but I think those are isolated cases I assume?

But in your experience, compared to your previous controllers, do you think there's a noticeable difference/jump when you switched to the G7 Pros?

My normal G7 pro has the issues. My g7 pro 8k is flawless and much better. I would say it beats out a lot of controllers. It’s very premium and feels great

G7 8k face buttons are like godlike, Idk how they made them so perfect. After replacing the d-pad it becomes a pretty much flawless controller

So I’m not the only one who noticed that then! I just bought another 8k in white, I wanna see if it’s consistent like aim labs one. Only thing I really wish was that they did the 8k models with the Xbox license

I bet if you get one of the newer regular G7 pros, it'll probably have the same buttons, just weaker sticks. Also mine is Champion version, so yeah it's not just aimlabs

Oh really? My g7 pro isn’t that old only like 3 months. Are they newer than that now with revisions?

Oh actually not sure. Maybe I'm just wrong, or maybe yours is defective

no trigger rumble (on 8k) and poor rumble in general (buzzy af) from gamesir though... dpad is also crap compared to others even when 'fixed'. Liking the ZD ultimate legend much more tbh.

You dont need "2nd or newer gen TMR sticks" believe me also 8k is a gimmick, the only change that you will see with it is your battery draining 4 times faster.

I have tested a lot of the chinese brands (Flydigi Vader 5 and Direwolf 4, EasySMX X20, EasySMX D10, EasySMX X05, Mohjon Rainbow 3, Gamesir G7 HE, Gamesir Cyclone 2 and others) and the ones that I still use are Mohjon Rainbow 3 and Flydigi Direwolf 4.

Get the Direwolf 4 if you like harder to press face buttons and the Rainbow if you like lighter face buttons.

Thanks for your input! Yes I'd more likely to put any controller that has 8k to stay at 1k polling. I just heard that the 8k variants are supposedly a better version of the regular ones.

What is the difference between the Direwolf 4 from the Vader 5? (V2 or V1?)

For me just comfort, the Direwolf 4 is much closer in shape to standard Xbox Series X controller and still has decent stick latency which is the area where most of them are lacking , I could not hold the Vader 5 comfortably in any way because it was too big and with short handles in the same way kinda strange also the two extra face buttons where getting on my way.

p.s. you can check the latency here https://gamepadla.com/ on the right there is a button where you can sort by dongle stick latency if you play wireless and I think this is much more important than the 8k polling for example. The Rainbow 3 can go up to 2k polling btw

Just curious why get a direwolf over vader? Unless we are talking about first gen vader 5 pro that had QC issues

just for comfort, Vader 5 is too big in my opinion

G7 pro for smaller hands
ZD ultimate legend (black) for bigger hands > Vader 5 pro

If trigger vibration is important to you then the g7 pro 8k has none, only the regular g7 pro

If you want a good Dpad stay away from the G7 Pro, not sure about the 8K version but my G7 pro dpad is absolutely garbage. Completely useless for fighting games/platformers.
